I absolutely LOVE 50s music! Oh my yes! I didn't come along until the late 50s, but there's just something about the music that my parents fell in love to. (And I might add they're still married and still in love 62 years later!) Here is my absolute favorite. It brings tears every *single* time I hear it.
I'm the same as you @Mari North , not born until well into the 50's...but I grew up hearing all the 50's songs on the 'wireless' which of course was always on... I can hear my mum singing along to this day...and whenever I hear some of those old songs I think of her.... ...and of course I'm a HUGE traditional style *real Country music * fan and some of the very best C&W songs came from the 50's...
Apparently we're very much alike, @Holly Saunders ! Traditional country, absolutely. It's what I listened to, and wrote, and ... well the modern stuff just sounds terrible to my ears. Now considering I'm in the music business, that's *not* a good thing, but I deal the best I can. George Jones (although this song is not from the 50s or even a few decades after) doing He Stopped Loving Her Today... warm fuzzies for me every single time. Just digs right into the emotions. Sexy tractors don't do anything for me. The artist that started it all for me... actually the particular *song* was Conway Twitty... "Fifteen Years Ago." Puttering around in my friend's little orange car (yep, I did indeed say orange!) and she played Twitty constantly. I started liking it and it stayed a favorite.
Hehehee Shirley! My foot was tappin' before the intro was over! Just what I needed this morning. Hops were a little before my time, but I've always thought I would have absolutely loved it! @Shirley Martin
These are all so great! To hear "So Rare" again on @Krissttina Isobe 's post was wonderful! How could I have forgotten a song as great as that?
