On the 26th of September I will be receiving a totally free CLOSED CAPTION phone and service in my apartment. It will be linked to my I PHONE and I can answer or send using either phone. It's a Federally funded program that just requires certification from your doctor or Audiologist that you have a hearing problem. The viewing screen is 12 inches which is large enough to read all phone transcriptions.
Because of my almost non existant hearing I have had the FREE Caption Call Phone and service for a few months and it's not working. I am trying to get one of their techs to come to my apartment and fix the problem.
They should fix that right away!! It's important for you to be able to communicate when you need to. I have a cousin who has one, so I have used it from my end. Once you get used to giving the middle person time to relay the message, it really becomes quite easy. I hope you get some assistance soon.
What a great application for those of us with severe hearing problems. I think I will go on a phoning Binge this week.
The Ap is only available for those with a certified severe hearing loss. It's made a major difference in my quality of life since getting this app on my I Phone.
I am dependent upon Caption Calling, Texting and email for communication. Both my I Phone and home phone will not text now. Probably some captioners are laid off.
I am sitting in my recliner enjoying a glass of wine. Some of my family is at this moment in Yosemite National Park for the day, which is about one hour away from where I live. They have been calling me and sending pictures using their I Phones. I can't hear them on the phone but I can read what they are saying via caption calling. The pictures they have been sending me are beautiful and I feel like I am at the park myself. We live in an amazing time of technology
If they are sending you Live Photo’s , then you can actually see the pictures moving, @Lon Tanner ! Besides taking a photo, the camera also captures just a few seconds of video. So, if they send you a picture of someone waving at you, then when you hold your finger on the picture, you would actually see the person waving, and not just the still picture. The Live Photo’s also have sound, and when I was in Hawaii and took pictures of the ocean, I could then see the waves rolling and hear them crashing against the shore whenever I look at the picture. It is only a few seconds of video, but it really makes the pictures come to life !
It's a blessing for me because I am deaf. Mine is VOICE TO TEXT Ap called Clear Captions that I have on my I Phone.
I use a Closed Caption I Phone and a Closed Caption stand alone phone because of my extreme hearing loss. The stand alone system is FREE if you qualify.
I use closed captions on TV, but I can usually get by fine with a speaker phone option. My hearing is getting worse as I age, and is one of the primary reasons I retired when I did--I couldn't carry on a conversation on the phone.
I never heard of a closed caption on a phone. TV yes. Will admit I did not know what you were talking about at first until looking at the photo of the phone and reading your explanation.
Great idea for hearing impaired Lon at least you can communicate with your family / friends My hubby has hearing loss and can’t hear without his hearing aids and in any noisy places still can’t hear properly . He bought the latest apple phone about 6 months ago, his latest HA are designed to work with the apple phone, he also has the Apple Watch which he can turn his HA ‘s up and down or off ....with the watch or his phone .... ,or put he can put his phone close to someone that’s talking to him if he can’t hear them clearly . Amazing technology not only making life easier for everyone but also enabling anyone like my hubby to still communicate with others out in the community
