Good "Social Practice" always involves expressing sympathy, one way or another, directed toward someone less fortunate than oneself, someone ill, perhaps. The possibilities are endless. Given one's lot in life, though, no matter how high up and esteemed one is, there is always someone higher up, more important, more universally liked or known, than oneself. And, going the other way, there are always some in far direr straits than oneself; to those we extend remorse, sympathy, greeting, and such. But what do we extend to that other category, those higher-ups, self-serviant, snobbish perhaps, folks? Nothing? Or, maybe envy........ and that is bad, as we all know. Try to ignore them, but they will always be there hogging the "headlines"! Frank
@Yvonne Smith That was a really beautiful post. I'm sorry to say that I had to get much older before I realized that being kind was the best characteristic a person can actually possess.
