Certainly I could live without it, I'm not addicted to it in the same way so many others are.. I don't use it to tell me the time, or as a sat nav, or watch videos or search for parking or do banking, or make reservations on it. or listen to music, etc... but I would miss it for the ease of taking a quick photo.. but just for a little while because I also have my camera. If I had to go back to using an android phone, it wouldn't be too much of a hardship...
I loved my first smartphone. It was small enough to stick in any pocket. Carried it everywhere. Had to replace it, and the smallest one they make now won't fit in ANY pocket. I hate it. It has disrupted my entire life. (Just kidding, but I do not like it at all). Got an extra flip phone to carry around while I'm working outdoors.
My parents still use a landline. Their phone isn't a rotary. They do have a cell phone, but it stays charged and in the glove compartment in case of emergency only. Cell phones can be awkward to hold and talk into if a person isn't used to it. I hated it when I first started using it. We had a family vacation to Disney World and my kids decided this is how we would all stay in touch. I was confused the whole time.
Oh, we still have a landline; it's part of the Comcast "bundled" services. I still prefer to talk on a regular telephone and I'd love to have an old rotary phone if it would work on the VOIP or whatever the service is.
I rarely carry mine and rarely answer it. I do use it as an Internet hotspot when I'm in a hotel with a poor Internet connection and sometimes when my own is poor, but I don't often use it to go online.
We still have a landline, well 3 cordless dect phones throughout the house, and like others it's included in our TV and internet package. There's never been a time when we've not had landlines.. although we've had mobile phones for the best part of 30 years...
When we first bought our house, poking around outside, I found not 1 or 2 but SIX land-line cables entering the house! Time was, each kid needed 1, wife needed 1 or 2, depending on whether she ran a business, 1 for the old man..........I wondered, all different numbers, how confusing! Frank
My kids have smart phones. My grand kids have smart phones. My great grand kids have smart phones. We have two landlines and an old Tracfone not made anymore. I carry the tracfone in the car when I go out in case of an emergency. I've never owned a smart phone. I don't want every tom, dick, and/or harry to get in touch with me or to be able to get in touch. If I want to talk someone I'll call them when I'm home, on my land line. And I don't like turkey.
