A light box merely throws more light on a subject because it is enclosed and all sides are reflective and bounce light back onto the subject, or something like that.
This morning I got out my old film camera and all the parifanalia tand lens hat went with the camera. Five lens all told, plus all the filters and flashes and accessories that makes lens from other camera brands fit the Olympus. It is a shame this equipment is almost worthless. I had just joined a camera club and was excited because several of their members were retired professionals, two from Texas Tech that were not retired and most of the rest of the membership were whatI called advanced ammeters. They had a monthly contest. Everyone was in the same class. when I entered a photo in the contest I was going up against some ofthe best in the business. It was such a fun experience. I think I was in the club for nine years. I loved it. Anyway, when digital rose to the fore I kept my old equipment, hoping I guess that the digital equipment would not catch on and we would return to a sensible way of life. Didn't happen and that's too bad because I have some damn fine lenses for that film camera. Now I have two small Cannon jobs. Both Power Shots. On a small digital ELPH, SD1100, IS, the other a SH530. Personally I like the smaller ELPH better. I'm sure I have equipment enough to make fine photos. Generally speaking, its the operator who is responsible for inferior pictures. Meanwhile what to do with this old equipment? Throw it in my recycle bin. Dig a hole in the back yard and bury it. Might call the VA for a military funeral for it. Or, get it out of my hair and just throw it away. I'll make a decision soon. Pam, my mouth has always gotten me in trouble. Now that I'm old enough to shave I've not gotten any better.
Okay, after Mickey Mousing around all day, trying to make some of my lens useful to one of the digital cameras, sorting out all the filters, I have made a decision on the old stuff. I'm going to keep it. I'm going to Best Buy sometime next week, pick up a couple of batteries for the camera, install a roll of film, and I'm going to use it. In the meantime, I have two digital camera I'm going to put to use. On what, I know not.
I think it would be cool if someone invented a camera with 3 lenses facing different direction. With one click, someone could get a surround group of photos all taken at the same time from different angles. This would be fun at concerts, sports, family reunions...........or maybe I'm just having a weird idea blonde moment.
Bill, I still have a 35mm camera and several rolls of film. I was taking a lot of pictures at the time and I bought a box of films. Then I got the digital camera and haven't used film since then. I thought that you could no longer get film developed but somebody recently said that you could.
From ideas such as that weird blonde moment is how innovations come about: a multi-lens directional camera for instance or a new shifter for Electric Vehicles.
Bill, I have a Nikon D5200 with several lens that I used to take all kinds of pics (especially photos of flora). I don't know when I stopped taking pics. You have made me want to get it out again and capture some shots.
@Pam Sellers, I have the want to also. I guess it was a hobby that I enjoyed so much once upon a time that I wish I could continue on with it all by my self I have been carrying my smallest camera with me wherever I go, for the two months. Not once have I seen any thing I wanted a photo of or worthy of the trouble of taking it. Your D5200 is capable of taking anything you'd ever want to take, One problem is not finding anything interesting to photo. That's my problem and because I can't get around too well, I don't go where I can find anything. I never thought of looking for an on line group. Probably they don't exist. I've thouight about starting an online camera group but don't know if enough people would be interested. It would take a little thought.
I have a Canon Rebel XTI with all the lenses with stabilizer. I never really could get into it enough to learn about all the setting. I have a tripod, but my favorite is the monopod, especially for the 200X zoom lens. It is easy to carry and plant for capturing a photo that might change by the time a tripod was set or trying to hold camera steady with left arm on right shoulder (old west ladies six gun stance) and operate with the right. I don't go on walks anymore with it as it is a lot to carry and my cell phone takes nice photos for my purposes and I carry it everywhere.
@Faye Fox, the Cannon Rebel have all been very good, durable cameras. Back when I was active in this hobby, I wanted a Rebel, couldn't afford one back then. Everyone can't get interested in the same thing (hobby). These cell phones have put a large number of cameras in storage as well as watches. I was looking online at a Monopod yesterday at Best Buy. I've looked at several places. What I'd really like to have is a good monopod I could also use as a walking stick. Probably have to have that built. or A good walking stick I could use for a monopod. I've noticed in a hobby we really enjoy, there is always equipment we want. Always wanted one of those canes that fired a shot.
Yes, I am also looking for the perfect walking stick and camera monopod. Do most cameras have the same diameter and thread pitch insert nut for mounting tripod attachment? If so, one could get a bolt with same thread on one end and wood screw on the other end for mounting in the top end of a walking stick.
I think there are two sizesin common use. Most sold iun this country used a 1/4 inch, 20 thread screw. The other in usage is a 3/8 inch, 16 screw. I've never used anything but a 1/4". I would check to see what fits before investing any money. Most of this stuff is made overseas, but 1/4 inch is pretty standard.
I have slept most of the day. Up once to eat and again to make a cup of hot tea. Been light headed again. Gotta shake this maliase, it's beginning to bug me.
