When I get on the forum, I generally just use the New Post option and refresh it from time to time. This seemed like an excellent plan until the other day when I realized we had games going on I didn't even know about. Apparently, the New Post option does not necessarily convey all that is going on at any given time. So, I thought I would ask how everyone else chooses to navigate the site??? Perhaps there is a better way than how I've been doing it.
Because the games section has new posts so often, which are meaningless to those who don't play the games, game posts don't show up in New Posts. Other parts of the forum should, however. But it doesn't hurt to click around the categories and forums every now and then so that you know what's available. I generally look to Alerts first, and New Posts next.
I usually do the same as you, Bess. I go right to "new posts." I also like to poke around in the different sub-forums to read old topics, though. I have no interest in games so I'm glad that Ken filters that sub-forum out of "new."
I just use ''new posts'' as well, but then we gamers have to specifically choose to go to the Games Section... because it doesn't show up in new Posts. I understand the reasons for it, I remember certain members being thoroughly cheesed off that they had to wade through the games to get to new posts... but unfortunately conversely I also think that because it's not immediately obvious to members , we have very few people playing the word games.
You might think of "status" as being the forum's version of Twitter. It's limited in the number of characters that can go there, and you can post pretty much anything you want there, from jokes to quotes, to words of wisdom, and so on.
