@Chrissy Page , I guess I'm not used to having nothing to do. I spent last year spending money I didn't need to so I could avoid the impossible, that of thinking about Big and Young Michael. I do wish I had the responsibility of grandchildren again, but my youngest is almost seventeen, and driving her mother crazy. The oldest G/D is 32 this April, and of course her life is way to busy, and although I do understand, I still miss having family around. So now, what are some of the don't do's? If I can avoid anymore lunacy I would appreciate the heads ups.
CC, you were much younger than I when you became a widow, and maybe if I was just over 50, I might have looked around too. It seems like all my energy has left, and being 64, I have no interest in anyone else. But I do want to start laughing again.
True, I was 53. When do you start with the Vets? Hopefully that will bring some joy to your life. Although I hope it doesn't sadden you too much if it's similar to Hospice. I know here they didn't want anyone volunteering til it was at least a year since they had someone pass away. My friend volunteered for Hospice and I thought about it briefly but decided I couldn't do it.
Good Morning my lovelies... It's another pitch dark freezing morning.... -5 degrees.... buttttt..I don't have to go out in it this morning because I'm working from home. A couple of hours should see it all done, and then the rest of the day is my own, and although it's forecast to stay verrry cold we're supposed to get glorious blue skies, so I might take my chance and go take some winter sun photos from my local area if I can find some energy . I really haven't had any opportunity to take many seasonal photos this year as I always do... Have a great day folks....
Good day to you Holly, Lara, and everyone on board ... it's a mild day down in the south of Texas.... we're having a really nice January by our standards. A good deal of time can be spent outside. Spent yesterday with grandkids, but school is back in session today, so think I'll do some cleaning, then relaxing time with reading a book out on the patio ...
Mornin. We have 3 above zero here on the east edge of Iowa, but it feels like -10 when you factor in the wind. Snow coming later but it won't amount to more than 1-3 inches, we're told. So, today will be a day without water in my building. They're gonna shut off the water so they can do some work. Only for about 6 hours. As long as the heat works, we'll be fine. The other day I rented a pay-per-view movie called "American Beauty". I liked it so well, I watched it again last night. The plot mirrored today's life, and was presented in an uncomplicated, easy to follow way. Very well acted by Kevin Spacey, Thora Birch and a fine cast of other actors. I highly recommend this movie. There is some nudity. A few bare butts and boobs, but nothing serious. Thora Birch kinda tripped my trigger in another movie I love called "Ghost Story" with Steve Buscemi and Scarlett Johansson. So, that was my exciting evening. I don't know what's on tap for tonight. Maybe Thora Birch will drop by, and tomorrow at this time, we'll be having breakfast together. Or not. Y'all be careful. If you can't be careful, behave. If you can't behave, have a good friend who's also a good lawyer.
Hi everyone sitting in the garden of our first hotel, have ordered a chicken curry for dinner, the owner is a chef born in London, so should be good. It's around 30c ( 85f ) and 6:30pm. We are only here for one night as it's close to the airport. We managed to visit a local fish drying beach and the local prison, not your usual tourist attractions, but very interesting, will post some photos later. Have a good day, wish you were here as they say, enjoying the warmth rather than the wintry weather a lot of you seem to be having.
It's pretty cold here too. Expecting what they call a wintry mix. I guess that means they don't know what it's going to do. It's okay, I've got nowhere I have to go to and plenty of food and firewood.
Looks as if not a lot of us checking in so far have escaped Old Man Winter this morning! At the moment (almost 10 a.m.) I'm seeing 16 degrees... my hands are freezing and I keep making typos (uh... I should say more than usual when I'm NOT cold! ) and I'm finding it rather impossible to keep the house warm. I was thinking about the "acting like a kid" thread yesterday when I picked up a few groceries. I saw something in the store that in the past (like last week!) I would have rolled my eyes and moved on, but I couldn't. First it was that cotton candy I had last week and now... they had it in an aisle display where they knew I couldn't miss it... a limited edition flavor of Pop Tarts. Oh dear! It's been a *whole* lot of years since I've had a Pop Tart. But Kellogg's, those rascals... got me this time. MAPLE BACON flavor. I had one for breakfast toasted just perfectly and they are good. They really are. No worries, I plan to counter the damage with a plateful of nothing but veggies for lunch. (I have fresh asparagus and turnips I need to use up and not sure what else I'll have, but I don't expect it to be more than 150 calories combined.) It's called a balanced diet. Did I just say that?! Oy!
Good morning everyone! Raining here which is good. Have had more rain here in the past month than we had the past few years. Staying in and maybe packing since I may leave Thursday because it's supposed to rain Friday. Have a great day whatever your plans! Terry, have a good nights sleep especially with the time difference!
Good morning, y'all! It was beautiful sunrise at the beach this morning, and best of all I got to see it. I was up and gone before the strays even woke up and expected breakfast! I'm glad I made the effort. It looks like rain for the next couple of days, so I wanted to get out and enjoy the gorgeous weather while I could.
