I suppose it's like looking back fondly at a vehicle a person used to own. It fulfilled a season in your life and now you are in a new chapter. Beautiful place @Lon Tanner !!
I've lived several places, mostly in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Prior to moving to Lubbock where I did live a long time. Much of my growing up years and early working years were spent in small towns in the oil patch, living in small houses built for renting to oil field people. The only thing we had to look forward to was payday. Our friends were those who worked along side or in other areas of the oil business. Looking back over my time working in the oil patch, in agriculture, in manufacturing, and my years in sales, I think the people I liked the most, the best friendships I experienced, were those hard-working, lonely souls who drilled, fracked, ran the tools down the well heads, and those who worked in acidizing, cementing, drilling, pumping, and those transforming raw crude to usable products. I've lived in Wichita Falls, San Antonio, Austin, Hobbs, Lovington, Denver City, Grandfield, Rankin, Crane, Lubbock and Norman. I've lived in a half dozen or so other small towns when younger and following the cotton harvest. If military living and travel was considered, I have lived in San Diego, California; Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Lawton, Oklahoma; Tacoma, Washington, and of course I did visit Sasabo and Tokyo, Japan and spent some time and met some good people In Korea. I've seen good times and bad and maybe its not yet over.
I lived in Hackett, Arkansas ( pop. about 500) several years. There was only one barber/beauty shop located in an old house. The woman took care of peoples hair in one room and had a dog grooming business in the next room .If you wanted a haircut you might have to wait until she finished trimming a poodle..
I'll be taking a ride up to the new place while I'm down here, Shirley and post a picture of that too.
Following pictures are where I lived in New Zealand of and on for 26 years. It Was Called Lavender Hill for obvious reasons.
