Do you buy yourself something at Christmas..a gift to yourself?.. if so have you bought one this year , and what is it? I usually buy myself something every year , not necessarily expensive.. but not always cheap. This year I didn't feel I needed anything, but we were shopping today and I found a pair of addidas white trainers, at half price, and as I've been meaning to get some white trainers how could I resist? ..I also bought 3 new fern potted plants (fake but realistic)
Oh, boy. Yeah. I bought an iolite ring, a new handbag to add to the closet o' doom, and Bose on-ear bluetooth headphones. My husband and I don't exchange gifts any longer so I "pick up a few things." Waiting on the after-holiday sales, too.
I guess you could call it a Christmas present, because I brought it 3 days ago, at Ollie's Bargain Outlet. Not a name brand, price $9. Thought I'd give it a try at that price. So far so good. But I'm pretty rough on skillets.
When we were young, our parents would give us money for Christmas shopping, so that we could buy a gift for everyone in the family. One year, my next oldest brother (three years older than me) spent all of it buying gifts for himself, which he wrapped and put under the tree. I remember everyone taking it in good humor, the idea being that he didn't understand that it was supposed to be for buying gifts for others, but he was three years older than me, and I got it, and he apparently got it the three years before that, so I was thinking he was getting off easy. As for buying gifts for myself, I don't wrap gifts up for myself at Christmas but while I am shopping for someone else, I often come across things that I want for myself.
Wife and I still buy gifts for each other, but we always know what the other is getting. How? We always shop together. For our first couple of Christmas's we did shop apart, but that ended. For this Christmas, she got her new Dell Laptop, which is very, very fast and "top of the line". We actually got it for her a couple of months ago. I was getting very tired of her complaining about her old laptop that we bought some 13 years ago. Don't hear her complain at all now. Got her a new pair of Snow Boots, that she absolutely loves. Got me both a new pair of Ariat Lace-Up Roper boots and tall "mucking" rubber boots. The "mucking" boots are for cleaning snow off of our vehicle and boat...…...especially when the snow on the ground is deep. Got us tickets to see the last Star Wars movie, that we seen on opening day, the 20th. And, a few other things. This Christmas, it's more about things we need, much more than things we want.
I've bought myself a gift for several years. This year my gift was the new vacuum cleaner(which is a champ).
I give myself odd gifts...such as two years ago I gave myself the gift of not having to make my bed. I usually do, but I didn't let myself feel like a slacker if I didn't. Last year, I gave myself the gift of not going to events because I felt obligated. I allowed myself to say NO without feeling guilty. I haven't chosen one for this year yet. I will do that in the morning.
A couple of years ago I kinda sorta did. It was more in the line of what Ken wrote about. I bought Robin a WiFi endoscopic microscope and I liked it so much I bought another one for myself. Now, I can’t really say that mine was a Christmas gift to myself because after Amazon via UPS delivered it a week or so before Christmas I was using it a few minutes later.
I'm thinking of buying a new CD player for myself. The CD changer on the Bose Music System that I have has quit working. They tell me that it can't be fixed. I paid almost $900 for it just a few years ago and thought it would last me as long as I live. I have actually only played it for the last little while. $900 for what has turned out to be a piece of crap. You can bet your sweet bippie the next one I buy won't be a Bose.
OK....I picked this year's gift to myself early this morning. For one whole year, I can go in public without eyeliner and not let myself feel as though I no longer have pride in my appearance. This is going to be great!! I hate dealing with eyeliner everyday.
I never wear eye-liner...I probably should to make my eyes look more open, but I just don't have a steady enough hand to make it look good... I'm sure you'll look just as good without it...
