Good morning it's 8am here and getting ready for a day trip to an elephant ride then on to a National Park where we will hopefully see them on the world.
There is another site on the way to a pink quartz mountain through a forest.
Have a good Sunday when you get there.

Mornin. It's 27 degrees here in Iowaland, at the early hour of 6am. Later, the temps will approach 40 degrees, we're promised by the local cloud watchers.
Nothing much going on this Sunday morning. There was a time when I would be in church at 6am on Sunday. My dad insisted, as long as I was living at home, I was to attend the 6am mass on Sunday, with them.
And so, I did as they wished, even when I was 18 and had my own car and job, but still living at home. Every Sunday but one.
Saturday afternoon 1958. It was late summer, but still hot. Entering the cool interior of the little cigar store that my pals used as a gathering place, I began playing the pin ball machines at the front of the store while waiting for some of my friends to show up. When it became apparent that all that were coming had shown up, we boarded my car and cruised the downtown streets, discussing what to do.
There were no dances or parties that we knew of, no one wanted to go bowling, or to a movie. That left only one thing.
The five of us, counting myself, pooled our money and gave it to a boy in our group called "Woodie". He was related to a local bar owner and could buy beer. After loading several cases of beer into the trunk, we stopped at a store and bought as many snacks and hot dogs as we could afford, then pointed the indian hood ornament of my old Pontiac west, and were off to a fun evening.
About 10 miles west of town ran a small river that eventually emptied into the Mississippi river, some miles to the south. An old iron, one lane bridge on a dirt road, spanned this river. On the west side of this bridge, down a dirt lane that ran along the river for a mile or so, was our party spot. In dry weather I could drive my car down the lane to a spot where neither the car nor a fire could be seen from the road.
Soon, we had a fire going, the car radio blasting 1950's rock and roll tunes, while we drank still cool beer and dined on snacks, talking and joking far into the night.
Then, the two strangers showed up. We were sitting around the blazing fire when they suddenly appeared in the firelight. It turned out, they were fishing further down river and had bank lines out. On hearing us, they decided to come up and see who we were. One of my party knew one of the strangers, so we invited them to join us and share our beer.
It was getting daylight when I woke up, the fire was out and the strangers were gone. I roused up my pals, and we gathered up all the empty bottles and trash, about to head for town and home. One of the strangers showed up as we were loading the car. He was carrying a tree branch with three nice catfish on it, offering them to us for the beer they drank. He said they had many more and would probably fish most of the day. No one in my group wanted the fish, so I took them, thanking him for them.
I pulled up in front of my house just as my parents were about to leave for church, launching the usual interrogation. "Where were you? Who was you with? What were you doing out all night? You've been drinking, where'd you get the beer? You're not going to church with us like that". I could understand their concern, since I had never stayed out all night, until now.
I only answered one of their questions. "Gee dad, I was just all night fishing", as I held up the three nice catfish. My parents went on to church without me, and I never heard any more about it.
I didn't know it then, but those were my golden times. Today, most of those guys are dead, and the church i was baptized and married in, was torn down last year. But, they still exist in my memory.

Sometimes, living in memories is a lifting thing. It can keep us going ...

I hope all the snowbound people on the East Coast are getting through this Jonas storm in good fashion. I know it will leave scars for many. My thoughts are with you folks. Stay warm and safe (indoors).

See I told you so,Ike. I'm not the only one who enjoys your memories. Your stories are of a variety that most of us can relate to. Your stories even trigger memories that many of have totally forgotten. Now this is a compliment, so don't take it otherwise. Sometimes you remind of my late younger step-brother, and he never grew out of his prankster teenage years either. He was one of my favorite people. So, MOREAnd MORE please.

It's a very mild 12C on Scotland's east coast, almost spring-like. I had to spring up a bit early this morning for a visit to the optician. I have what is termed a 'floater', which is not too dangerous, but is irritating. It's like having a small fly darting about in front of your eye all the time. Annoying, but nothing too serious.

Monday, Monday! Good morning, everyone. I've now been officially "up and at'em" for 6 hours and it's still not 8 a.m.... sick household and I can't possibly sleep with all the hacking and coughing and other bump in the night noises, so I figured it was useless to try. As for me... still feeling exceptionally wonderful, so maybe I won't catch it this time.

As I told someone in another thread, I found out this morning that my town had been officially closed down yesterday... illegal to be on the streets. Not sure I could have anyhow since the plows were so slow with getting around! This morning it's all packed down into solid ice but I'm not going anywhere... I *am* working at my home office, though... getting a slow start but laundry was screaming to be done.

Any wonderful things on the ol' agenda this week for any of you?

Good morning everyone, nice day and week here weatherwise. Starting today in the low 60's and moving up to upper 60's by midweek.

Thanks Holly, I did get a good nights sleep and I can be nice grandma again instead of grumpy grandma. :)

@Ike Willis , I also enjoy reading what you write.

@Tom Locke , I thought there was nothing you could do about floaters but ignore them.
