What a fun story Ike! That Pontiac, was it black? My dad had a black one with the Indian head hood ornament. The ornament was sort of an amber color.

Thinking about your campfire and the strangers......some things could have gone very wrong. I almost held my breath but everything ended up happily.

Have you ever thought of having your stories published? You should, I think. Eudora Welty became a famous author by writing about family and events around her home in Mississippi. Just something to think about.

I'm with @Ruby Begonia here, @Ike Willis ... I'd love to read your stories all together in book or Kindle form. Good news is that you don't even need to "find a publisher" these days... self publishing is all the rage. Now, I'm not sure if it costs anything for some of the options... I'm thinking not like at Amazon, but I could be wrong... if that's the case, there's really nothing to lose, eh? :D

Mornin. It's a 25 degrees on this cloudy, rain coming day here on the east coast of Iowa, at 7:30am. Over there, across the water, lies the land of Lincoln. It's a cloudy 7:30am there too.:)
So, the most exciting thing that happened here in my town yesterday, was Donald Trump's appearance. He was at our high school at 10am Sunday morning. I think he drew a bigger crowd than most of the churches. I wish I could have been there. But, the high school is out on the west edge of town, beyond the range of my electric scooter. Everything is on one side or another of my town. I finally got moved to the middle of town, to be near things, and everything I need moved out to the edges. :( Thank God I have a daughter who I can depend on.
Nothing going on here today. That's ok. I like it fine when nothing happens.
Be careful out there. Hardly anyone just drives anymore. They "multitask" while driving. Texting, reading, eating, drinking, maybe even having sex.o_O They should design cars like the Ford model "T" again. It took all your hands, feet and attention to drive one of those.
So, behave yourselves. I have to. Got too many cops in my family.:D

We have 22 degrees and sunshine here in CT. I haven't decided yet what I'll do and when, besides enjoying my day off.

I did my errands yesterday, cooked, cleaned up and sat down with a new book. Today I must do laundry, wash kitchen floor and pick up in general. I should clean out the fridge but will I? Nahhh! I'd rather fool around with Steve's Jello recipe, the oj one. I haven't made Jello in years.

    Have fun, everyone!

Good morning ladies and gentleman. I still have a layer of ice (shoveled the thin layer of snow off the top yesterday) but the temps rise to 47 today and "Partly Cloudy" which I prefer to say "Partly Sunny"...so I believe it may all thaw.

Ike, you were a fast thinker with the 3 catfish alibi. I shudder to think what my son never disclosed to me.
Thank God for your daughter being there for you these days.
Ruby, a good book and jello sounds like a great day ahead.

Indeed, there isn't. I wanted to get it checked out, though, because there is a small danger that it could stem from a damaged retina. The optician had a good look and said that everything else looked fine and that with a bit of luck, I should barely notice it after a few weeks.

My few seconds of (very minor) fame...a photographer from the Fife Free Press (my local newspaper) turned up to take some photos of me. The paper is doing a small feature on me this week as my novel is being published on Friday. Not exactly national acclaim, but to paraphrase Chairman Mao, everybody has to start somewhere.

Yes, Tom...I had the same experience....saw more floaters than usual one day and got scared thinking detached retina, so rushed to eye doctor and it was just floaters but I did need glasses.

It might be more like 1.5 seconds, but we'll see. I'll put a link to Amazon, Amazon UK and the publisher. Sharp observers might spot that the photo on the publisher's site is a rather old one...

It's my second book, although it's my first novel. I'm now stuck in that "difficult second novel" trap. I have one that's reasonably well developed, but I'm not quite sure what I want to do with it. I've just started putting some stuff together for another one, but it's not got anywhere yet. I've got a good character and a few sketches, but no real story as yet.

Yes Tom, please provide us with a bit of the details. What's it all about? Is it a compilation, or a single story? Is there a site we might order your book from. I hope it does well, but don't forget us when you are famous.

Holy moly, a pink quartz mountain, @Terry Page I'd love to see that!!

Good morning, everyone. I'm kicking myself for forgetting to charge my camera battery before I went for my walk. I missed out on some fabulous shots. The sky was amazing this morning. I got a few shots, but missed the best of them. At least I got to see it live, though. I actually got within about 15 feet of a Great Blue Heron. I thought the must have been hurt, but I guess he just knew I was not a threat. He seemed to be watching the sun rays coming out from behind the huge dark clouds the way I was, we were both transfixed. I'm going to do some cooking later. The weather's supposed to be stormy for the next few days, so I'll be catching up on chores and doing other things around the house. Hope everyone's doing well and having a good day.
