I've developed Arthritis of the lower back in the last 2 years. I'm 83-1/2. When I get out of bed at 6:30 am, my back hurts, so I do standing toe touches until my fingertips touch the floor. It takes anywhere from 12 to 20 stretches to do this. Then my back is fine unless I remain on my feet for long periods. When we go to the County Fair, the Home Show, or the Swap Meet, I take my Walker, which has a storage trunk and a nice Seat. When we go to the Supermarket, my wife takes a cart for Groceries and I take a cart for use as a Walker! That's all..... H.P.
I don't even have a bad back and I use the cart for a walker. If I'm at Walmart, I don't have to be getting groceries, I'll use a cart just to go to the back for light bulbs and air conditioner filters.
I have been having Sleep Problems since moving to Assisted Living. My PC prescribed a rx for me that helps regulate your sleep pattern. I go to bed between 8---9 PM and get up and into the shower by 7 AM. I am pretty sure that I am getting the necessry sleep that I need during that time period.
Generally eight hours since I have a radio with ear phones. In bed by eleven, up by seven. Before I got my radio, in bed by eleven pm; up by five to six.
My wife, sometimes, has a sleep problem. Frustrating for her with the job search she's been doing. However, if she takes one (200mg) Motrin, she will sleep really good. We generally go to bed between 10 and 11PM, but most of the time, at 10PM, can depend on what's on tv. Wife loves tv and we watch a lot of dvd movies we have. I'm the "early bird", compared to when she gets up. I can be up at 5:30 and will let her sleep in until 8 or 9AM. From my old farming days, getting up no later than 6AM, to my Navy days, to my employment days of being at work at 7AM...…...I simply can't "sleep in".
In bed at ten, up at six-thirty. If long movie on TCM, I may not hit the bed until eleven. Daily afternoon nap for one to two hours. That's it! Harry (That's a genuine Roberto Vargas print.)
Hal, what the heck is that picture on your wall to the left of the mounted rifles? I know what it is, but...….. It doesn't match the content of the wall, but apparently you think it does. And, what the heck is that rifle on the bottom? A Tommy Gun with a round ammo cylinder?
@Hal Pollner How did you get the Vargas??? Lucky you. I love his pinup art. I always am confused at his name since some of the prints are sold under the name Roberto, while he also sold prints under the name Alberto....which was his real name. I think he was from South America, but settled in New York. It is all the variations of poses he uses which make his art so unique. No one else has ever captured what he does.
It varies. Most nights probably 6-7 hours; I don't sleep as long as I used to and some nights it takes a while to doze off. I stay up till the wee hours and sleep late; never been a morning person and I'm not going to start now.
Retire for the nite anywhere from 10:30 to 12:00, up at 5:00. Started this nap thing before bedtime, not sure why, just doze off, the couch is full, me and my 3 little ones, good thing i have a big couch. .
Usually I go to bed around midnight to 1:00am.. I sleep at least 8 hours every night and often more than that.. I am definitely NOT an early bird since our working days.. it has been 25 years since I worked, but still the habit remains..
