Each year Dr. Martin Luther King happens. It's a day when all city, county, state and federal offices are closed. some companies even give that day off to their employees.

What I'm wondering is...…...what would Dr. Martin Luther King think, if he came back today, and seen/heard of all of the black-on-black shooting and killings that happen today?

I'm sure he'd be quite unhappy about it.

I also think he'd be quite unhappy about any killing, whether it was black-on-white, white-on-black, white-on-white, North Korean-on-South Korean, Palestinian-on-Israeli, or any other _____-on-_______.

I can't understand why you'd expect any other answer, Cody.

I'd consider him smart enough to clearly differentiate between the killings and the general situation which can't be compared to that of the 1960s.

Well, everything I've read about Dr. King, he fought for equal rights for blacks. IOW, he wasn't against whites, but to another point was, due to the way whites treated blacks back then.

Today (2020) blacks get along with whites much, much better than back then. Unfortunately, also today, blacks are killing each other in outrageous numbers. There are cities in the U.S. that have rather large black populations, where blacks just don't seem to get along, in some cases that is. We heard a lot about black-on-black murders, when we lived in Jacksonville, FL, where the demographics for blacks was 38%.

I just wondered how Dr. King would feel if he was alive now.

I think MLK would be castigating those current "leaders" like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson.

I think he would be very sad and try to calm the situation that's going on
I feel very sad about it as we have the same over here
Whites kill whites, whites rape little children - Bad is bad, regardless of colour

True, however this thread is about how Dr. King would feel about what's happening in his race today. It's true about white-on-white, but everyday when I go online, I'm reading about numerous murders of black-towards-black.

Martin Luther King said once that he didn't trust Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton was a con man long before he became a Civil Rights icon. I don't think he gave up being a con man, though.

IMO, Cody's question was a good one. MLK didn't simply demand things of the white population, as seems to be the case today. He demanded a lot of the black population, as well, rather than making excuses for bad behavior.

I don't know. After living in Jacksonville, FL for 10 1/2 years, it just made me wonder.

I'm sure he'd be proud of all of the black movie producers and directors there is today, as well as all of the great black actors/actresses there are.

Dr King would be ignored. Police are social workers, their hands are tied. Drug wars rage and where money is involved you get illegal exploitation and uncontrolled violence, The poor man would be horrified
