I was perusing YouTube and I ran into the “Moron Brothers” again but this time the song was,”Burglar Man”.
The title sounded real familiar so I played it and yep, a song my grandpa used to sing and accompany it with the banjo just like the guy in the video.
For a Pentecostal preacher and pastor, granddad had a pretty good repertoire of some of the more colorful songs from the early days of Bluegrass including the “Laughing Song” and yeah, even “Ol’ Dan Tucker.”

The fondest and most beautiful memories that I have are the ones when he and grandma would sing “The Old Rugged Cross and “Blessed Assurance” in church but when Grandpa got into one of his more playful moods out of church, his Bluegrass was always a close second.

What is even better for me is that in the video, the guy singing The Burglar Man could be my Grandpa’s twin brother, that is, if he had a twin brother.

Wow, I was just about to push the “paste” button and a bit of irony just hit me real hard. I am now older than my Grandpa was when he sang those songs!!

    Enjoy.....

One grandpa liked old cowboy songs and the other the southern work songs.
To this day some of these songs go off in my head for no good reason.
It is nothing short of a miracle I still have my sanity.
