Are you near Albany @Nancy Hart. I hope not. As an outsider I view any lowering of US restrictions as foolhardy. The death toll keeps rising by more than one thousand every day. Just because some states and parts of states are not being hit hard by the virus now.. does not mean that will be the case over, say, the next month.

Australia's richest woman, Gina Hancock (Reinhart) is bankrolling a world-first international coronavirus multi-therapy trial led by the best scientists from the US and Australia. Hospitals in both countries will treat Covid-19 patients with a combination of the anti-malarial drug hydrocholoquine, zinc, a strong antibiotic and intravenous Vitamin C.

Sweden is paying the price for almost a total ignoring of self and social isolation. It is now the most Covid- struck of all Scandinavian countries.. with as much as ten times the death toll of the other Nordic states. While there has been criticism of a slow response to the virus by the US, UK, Italy and Spain..surely the harshest criticism must be aimed at Sweden. She has always "played it alone". This time if may prove to be her biggest ever mistake.

No, Albany is in SW Georgia. I'm in NE Ga.

I didn't realize Sweden was having problems. Conservative media has been touting their approach lately.

Since Australia is heading into colder weather, what do the scientists say? Are they expecting an uptick in cases?

I just read that Sweden probably done the right thing they quarantined the most vulnerable people and let the others deal with the virus and now they have reach herd immunity and will do just great. Never ever heard of quarantining healthy people only a medical mafia would come up with this nonsense.
This just might cause a collapse of the medical system.

Trump is now talking about alternative treatments like light and the drug company shill sitting there would not even look up when he talked to her. I don’t know what Trump was referring to but there has been other light therapies used in the past one was Dr. Raymond Rife that the medical system destroyed.

Mr. Gates is trying for a vaccine but take away the legal protection for vaccines manufactures and then see how many companies want to make vaccines

The medical system did not destroy Dr. Rife's light therapy. I have addressed this previously and it is easily researched. He has been lauded by the medical community for his innovations in the past. The light therapy Trump was asking about was UV and also ruminating of a possibility of injecting people with a disinfectant. He stated he had no answer as he was not a doctor but the doctor standing alongside him had nil to offer. Later today the head of the CDC stated that sunlight was the very best way to kill COVID.

Without appearing to blow my own trumpet .. quite the opposite Nancy. Our chief medical officer is saying we are "in great shape" compared to the rest of the world. Only 25 new cases in the past 24 hours and three deaths..all in aged care homes.
An Australian developed experimental stem cell product may be what the world has been waiting for in its Covid-19 battle. In a recent small joint US/Aus. trial of the product at Mount Sinai Hospital some 75% of full blown virus patients were removed from their ventilators within 10 days and have now been discharged.

I just heard a scientist from the UK on TV say they are working on a vaccine that could be ready by fall. Fast track. They have 1000 volunteers and have already given it to a handful of them. What may hold things up is they need these volunteers to be exposed to those who have the virus, to see if it really works. I figured they would have a way to simulate that in the lab.

Two views of my solarium situation. First view from below, second view from above. Great place to read or spot intruders.

    Another possible cure coming?

For a couple of weeks now, the Indian pharma community has been buzzing about clinical trials coming down the pike for a repurposed use for yet another older drug -ivermectin, to fight COVID-19 disease.
Now the results are starting to come in and ivermectin looks just as good as these sources predicted it would be. Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic drug that is usually used to treat head lice, but now some scientists have found that it can kill off the COVID-19 disease in just two days.

If further studies continue to show efficacy, it will be yet another example of the unusual nature of this virus – that it can be disrupted by something as simple as sufficient levels of zinc in one’s bloodstream thanks to a decades-old anti-malaria remedy on the one hand, but an anti-parasitic on the other.
Ivermectin is currently being experimented with across the U.S. to the point where it is – like many other drugs – rapidly becoming in short supply.

But according to researchers at Broward Health Medical Center in Florida it is working wonders for physicians on the frontline of battling COVID-19 disease. According to Broward’s Dr. Jean-Jacgques Rajter: “If we get to these people early, and what I mean by that is if their oxygen requirements are less than 50 per cent, I’ve had nearly a 100 per cent response rate, they all improve, if they’re on more oxygen than that, then it becomes a little more varied, some people, they don’t respond anymore because they are too far advanced."

Dr. Raiter says he is currently writing up his findings, but warned that it could take weeks to publish them: “If I wait, every day that goes by is another day when lots and lots of people get very sick, go to ICU, many of them die and that could theoretically even be preventable and that’s why I thought it was so critically important to get this information out there.”

Another Broward researcher, Dr. Nirav Shah agreed that ivermectin has great potential: “Finding a safe, affordable, readily available therapy like ivermectin, if it proves effective with rigorous evaluation, has the potential to save countless lives.”
    https://abcnews.go.com/Health/head-li...

Australian researchers at Melbourne’s Monash Biomedical Discovery Institute are investigating ivermectin as well, but in vitro – in other words, in a test tube.
Researcher Dr. Kylie Wagstaff explained: “We found that even a single dose could essentially remove all viral RNA by 48 hours and that even at 24 hours, there was a really significant reduction in it.”
    https://abcnews.go.com/Health/head-li...

According to these researchers, although the SARS-CoV-2 virus, is not a parasite, ivermectin treats it like it is one and blocks the viral RNA from invading healthy cells and that slows the virus from replication and gives the patient’s immune system time to catch up and fight it off.

Researchers at the University of Utah also found that ivermectin seems to work in critically ill patients: “… critically Ill patients with lung injury requiring mechanical ventilation may benefit from … ivermectin.”
    https://abcnews.go.com/Health/head-li...

The lead author of the Univ. of Utah team, Dr. Amit Patel: “We noted a lower mortality and reduced healthcare resource use in those treated with ivermectin.” Despite the recent politically motivated attempts to tarnish the proven effectiveness of HCQs in the United States, the world’s second most populous nation, India, stands by hydroxychloroquine as their first-line treatment for mild to moderate COVID-19 disease, but they too are finding that ivermectin seems to work where nothing else has.

In India, 62-year-old Sherli Abraham contracted COVID-19 from a family who returned from a trip to Italy in early March with COVID-19.
Since then, she has spent 48 days in the hospital. Despite 45 days of treatment, she couldn’t get two COVID-19 tests in a row showing the disease had been completely vanquished.
The stubborn case finally came under the scrutiny of the District Medical Board. They suggested treatment with ivermectin.
The first dose didn’t seem to help, but the second dose did, and so yesterday, she was finally released to go home.
Ivermectin has been around for long enough that it has a generic version as well, but both the brand version and the generic are currently sold out in the US

Physicians in the Dominican Republic are all recommending people keep social distance, use of facial masks and hand washing hygiene, stay-at-home and other measures suggested by the government following World Health Organization protocols. But what if you think you have caught the coronavirus? Local physicians have been using low costing hydroxychloroquine (plaquinol) and ivermectin. Tocilizumab (actemra) is a high cost pharmaceutical that is used for patients in serious conditions, also remdesivir, an antiviral.

After a first whirlwind learning curve in treating patients, there are now treatments that are showing high efficacy. The largest private hospital in Puerto Plata is betting on the low-costing ivermectin.

Dr. Johnny Tavarez of Centro Medico Bournigal says that 100% of all the patients treated at the clinic for Covid-19 with ivermectin have recovered. He says many...

We hear of too few 'feel good' stories during this virus crisis. Here is one from my country.

A Melbourne cafe owner facing tough times in the lockdown has had his spirits lifted thanks to a generous donation from a pensioner couple.
Pierre Patole owns The Timbuktu cafe in Brighton East and has struggled with the business thru the coronavirus restrictions.
Last Friday, he found a note slid under the cafe door from two unknown customers who wanted to show their support for the local business.

Below is the note Mr Patole received from two exceptional human beings.

Pierre and hundreds more cafe owners may be celebrating after hearing from the Australian government that cafes, small, shops, cinemas, bars and clubs are likely to reopen over the next month. Gone tho, will be buffets, plastic menus, couches, communal cutlery and the ubiquitous food buzzer. All will be banned until further notice. Forget about sitting next to your buddy or girl/boyfriend at the cinema or club as patrons will be segregated and the dastardly club/bar poker machine (slot machine) will be banned. Shud've banned those crooks eons ago.;)

The Australian Government has announced that hospitals are to recommence elective surgery today.

The national coronavirus death toll reached 83 on Sunday, with three deaths, but the rate of new infections continues to drop. Our Chief Medical Officer says the curve is staying flattened with only 16 new cases across the nation on Sunday, bringing the total to 6711 cases.

He has tho cautioned all Australians that the "battle is not yet won".

At least one million Aussies have downloaded the COVID-19 tracer app, which aims to help health officials identify people who may have come into contact with someone who has tested positive to coronavirus.

Called COVIDSafe, the voluntary app became available for download and registration on Sunday evening and has been backed by doctors, nursing, business and banking groups.

I received this today. It reinforces what I have been thinking for some time.

Subject: Coronavirus - why quarantining everyone is wrong!

Do your self a HUGE favor and look at and listen to the video. If you cannot take the time to watch the whole video, at least watch 35 minutes of it. You will learn a lot (I know I did).
