Having around the clock care for my wife is costing me nearly $10,000 per month. I had enough to cover the first month but with the stock market down so low I decided it would be better to take out a loan to cover the rest.

I'm hoping she can get able enough to get by with less help soon. She is improving little by little.

$10,000 a month for 24 hr care is pretty steep Sheldon. She could have 24 hr. care here where I live for far less. Where are you living?

    Thank you @Lon Tanner

@Lon Tanner , the 24 hr care doesn't usually last long but she is having trouble adjusting. Usually patients are starting to walk by the time they come home.

Doesn’t Medicare help with that, @Sheldon Scott ? Many years ago, after me dad had a stroke and fell, and was totally bedridden, the visiting nurses came in every day to look after him.
The rest of the time , we took care of him, and they never suggested that he should have a nurse full-time; but his Medicare paid for the special hospital type bed (raising and lowering) and anything else that he needed.

Medicare pays for a nurse to come once a week and PT to come 3 times a week. They do not pay for personal care.
