The overall death rate in the United States is at its lowest point in ten years. In part, this might be because no one is dying of anything else anymore because all deaths are attributed to COVID-19. If it's lives that matter, then we're doing better than we have in ten years.

In my opinion, if the number of deaths and/or death rates are falling, it's because most older people, and those with pre-existing conditions, are not stupid. They are more likely to follow safe guidelines now.
