    @John Brunner

    This afternoon we had 105 degrees, 10% humidity. We often have times when the Dewpoint is zero or below zero degrees! NOT in Summer, however!

    I'm looking at a 10 day forecast here in central Virginia. The lowest projected humidity level is 49% with temps in the low 90s. Tuesday it's gonna hit 91 degrees with a "feels like" of 100 degrees.

    The weather forecast is always the same: Hazy, hot and humid. You could phone it in every day the entire summer.

    Austin is having a full week of 100-105°F days. The humidity ranges from around 40-90%. Hopefully, this is my last summer here, after forty-two years. I stayed because I was a victim of my own success in business. Mostly retired, now, there's no reason to punish myself with a town that's on the fast track to becoming a total failure with terrible air, water, traffic, weather, costs, and homeless people.

    Good for you!

    I lived in Northern Virginia (right outside of DC) for 47 years. I moved to a more rural area 10 years ago (although it's showing signs of growth), but did not escape the oppressive summers.

    Do you have a short list of destinations?

    Very short list: Woodland Park, CO. Around 8500 people at around 8500 feet.

    We have hung out in Colorado Springs, at 7500 feet, and have never noticed any problems, except for my cracked, sore lips. Chapstick managed that. In Silverton, at 9500 feet, I got winded, climbing a long flight of ancient hotel stairs, having to stop halfway up, but that was it. We'll be RVing on the way up, with overnight stays at increasing elevations, so I think we'll be OK.

    Here, the low (night) temperature is in the high 50s, with a high of 85 during the day. Miserably hot. I don't know how people can stand it.

    We have the option to have all our meals alone at a table for four in the dining room at a specific hour or have the meal in our apartment at a specific hour.. I have been going to the dining room for all my meals just to get out of my apartment and for the exercise. I never see more than five people in the large dining room when I am there. I don't understand why more don't go to the dining room. It does take some effort if you are using a cane or walker like me. Less mobile residents can be transported however by a care provider.

    The meal and the desert were delicious and so was the wine.
