Some people with facial tattoos and piercings have an "in your face" attitude when it comes to society. Some young people on the other hand, never foresee themselves as future adults with families and responsibilities where public perception of themselves matters.

At age 84, I feel that I need a Tattoo with the same urgency that I need a Smart Phone.

I have "executive tattoos," all invisible under normal clothing, and all done professionally at considerable cost from the studio of a world-class tattoo artist. They were carefully and thoughtfully chosen, and are all quite thematic; a fox even cavorts under my watch band. When giving me an injection, a pharmacist has commented that my work is "extremely well done."

Those of us with tattoos tend to think of them as permanent body jewelry or emblems of our personal identity. Facial tattoos, piercings, and ear plugs were never on my agenda...

Well then you sure don't want to know me! :D

I realize that not everyone is a tattoo lover or agrees with adorning one’s body with ink or finds it pleasant to view on someone else.

It is an intensely personal choice. I am one who finds it deeply meaningful. I have 8 tattoos, and every single one has a great deal of significance and symbolism the placement of which was carefully chosen to take into account the effects of gravity on aging skin. Most of them aren’t visible if I’m fully clothed...and I’m pretty much fully clothed most of the time except when I’m with my fiancé Ron. I don’t ink myself for anyone but me.

I know they’re not for everyone. I get that. Ron also has a couple of tattoos, also deeply meaningful, and not visible when he's clothed. When I suggested wedding tattoos, he was profoundly impacted with the idea. So we chose to get matching tattoos as part of our wedding celebrations. His thumbprint on me, mine on him. She slightly enlarged them to show detail and cropped them into heart shapes. We love them.

I have to admit that there are some extremely beautiful tattoos, but when there are folks that just aren't into them, for whatever reasons, they just aren't. There are folks out there that would rather own/ride a dressed Honda or Kawasaki rather than a Harley. There choice.

Before I met my wife in 2000, I was seriously thinking about getting an Eagle tattoo on top of each arm, right above my wrist, but didn't. Very, very glad that I didn't, because my wife told me straight out, after we met "if you would've had any tattoos or body piercings (ear lobes), I wouldn't have anything to do with you." And, she was totally serious. But, that's us.
