I use to be a member of another forum, that was suppose to be a "Senior" forum and when I complained about the younger people coming on the forum, I was criticized for it. "I love younger people being in this forum, a few said to me."

For myself, I wouldn't know what to talk about if I was involved with a younger generation forum. A number of things I think about, and talk about, happened way before those younger people were even born.

However, I've heard that some of the younger generation are against 55 Plus Communities, calling it "discrimination" against younger folks.

Anyway, just because wife and I may look/act younger than 66 and 68, sure doesn't mean we feel younger a lot of times. Heck, we both remember watching Sky King, Rin Tin Tin and Lassie on tv.

I with you on that @Cody Fousnaugh , I have a step daughter that has been trying to coral me since her father passed. She know I spend quite a bit of my time on a forum, and she ask me for the site. I fibbed (lied) to her, and said it was for sixty and over, and you had to have an invitation. She is 51, almost 52. But I don't want her knowing my every thought. I would be catching **** for talking of such private things to strangers. I finally just told her that this was my private comfortable place.

You go, Ina! :D I have to agree that while I'm totally against fibbing in theory, if it would be a matter of someone checking up on me anywhere online, I'd surely come up with something. Hopefully your step-daughter doesn't find out the name of the forum or she could check in anyhow.

Strangers... aren't strangers friends we simply haven't met yet?

I do love Patricia, she was two and her sister was one when I met their father, who was trying to raise his two little girls. But I'm sure everyone knows someone, or has a family member that is a control freak. I know she loves me, but then again if she could get me to sell my home and move in with her, her financial situation would improve quite a bit. ;) But I'm only 64, and I'm not ready to give up yet. I've been on my own now for over a year, and I must say I'm being to see some of the advantages.

And you guys and gals keep me from getting too lonely. :p

Seniors and Baby Boomers Over the Age of Fifty was too long for a forum title.

Aw, too bad... I'd feel so much better being called a Baby Boomer! JUST kidding! :D But no one... NO ONE can talk me into requesting a senior discount anywhere yet, even if they *do* start at 50 or 55 where I'm going!

I understand what you are saying, @Mari North . Back (in my younger years) when I was in my late 50's, and Robin and I were traveling cross-country in her little Eclipse, we stopped for the night at a motel. The owner asked if I wanted a Senior Discount, and I huffed and puffed about that all the way out to Washington State ! (Robin still teases me about that trip).
Now, I am 71, and feel like I am "entitled " to my senior discounts. I ask EVERYWHERE if they have a discount for seniors (and sometimes scold them when they don't), and am glad to take advantage of each one of those little savings.

Yep, you *do* understand me, @Yvonne Smith ! :D *Somehow* the time between "can I see ID proof that you're 21?" and "would you like a senior discount?" passed by MUCH too quickly, didn't it?

Wow, guys! Guess what? I just got this neat new IPod and was able to load it down with 30K tunes! Any of the girls here going to their prom? I can't decide whether to ask a girl or a guy to mine but if I decide to stay home I'll have my own party with a virtual warrior's app I totally put on the IPad my mom gave me this last Christmas. Free college! Vote for Sanders! Yea!!!

Uh.....Where's "firefly, orbit and lookamelacy? ..this IS the luckyblue earth forum isn't it? OOps! Avatar switch to Bobby Cole and not Indiana Bob.

Now, we are discussing the possibilities that there might be interlopers into our small but faithful community, is that correct? I totally agree with whatever the administrator says. Yup.....can't say enough about the subject at hand. Over 50 you say? Let's see, that would mean that I would have to be born around...uh, dern. Where's the calculator?

Sanders? OY! We're gonna have to have a talk, Cole! Prom.. nah, missed my first one. And second, come to think of it, so pretty sure I'll miss this one, too. We should have a prom here... we had a Super Bowl party, after all... hmmm. I guess that could get tricky. Oh well... it was an idea. :)

Yeah, it's pretty obvious you're not 50 yet, young 'un.... come back in 30 years and we'll let ya in. :p @Bobby Cole

I like knowing that someone is keeping an eye on things. It sounds as if the person running the other Seniors forum didn't really care about the subject matter, just wanted the traffic to boost the site on Google. Obviously site owners want their forums to be successful, but allowing those types of things can ultimately cause them to fail. I like knowing everyone here lies North of a certain line, it makes it more comfortable to discuss certain subjects.

My name is Will Lawrence and I'm an internet troll. I am 32 years old. unemployed, and living in my mother's basement. I weigh just over 350 lbs and only change underwear when the orange stains from the Cheetos I live on become more than my 12 cats can stand. I post on a "Senior's" forum because it seems difficult for me to find friends elsewhere. I feel right at home, here.:D:D:D

Actually, I have enjoyed the short time I've been on the discussion board. Lots of excellent discussion, tips, hints, music from "my era", etc. I'm probably not as politically 'right' as some here, but everyone's political leanings are their own business. I always learned to not talk politics or religion at the dinner table... and have tried to hold true to that here. (I have strayed from the political side of that a couple of times!) At almost 70 years old, it is really therapeutic to read the positive discussions from so many at a similar stage of life.

Ken... keep up the good work!!!!

Welcome to the Seniors Only Club. You'll fit right in. I have one question, though -- only twelve cats? What's the matter, you hate cats?

  14. Good grief, until I read that.. and then had to use a calculator to figure it out... it didn't even occur to me that people born in the very last years of the 'Boom' are over 50 now!!!

I am amazed, you mean there are some people who might pretend to be over 50 to post here? I can understand the reverse, a man or woman trying to appear younger. Although I can understand someone very young claiming to be older ... when I was young older people seemed to have more fun!
