Sorry for your loss, Beth. Well, I had some relatively good news today. My cat, Barney, had gone off his food a while ago so I took him to the vets.He has hyperthyroidism, treatable with medication for the rest of his life. I was afraid it might be something much worse.
Pit and peak peak...estate sale went very well..better than I expected so I’ll be getting a few thousand dollars and what was left Habitat for humanity took. house is empty except for a couch I kept to sleep on til I leave for good on Tuesday morning, plus a small microwave that I’ll take with me and give to my Grandson for his apt at Cal Poly. and a fridge in the garage.. may just leave that. Pit: leaving my two very good friendS here who helped me through all this...they were amazing!!!
That is awesome news, @Chrissy Cross , and I am so glad that you are going to be moving in with your family finally. I think that you will be so much happier there, and envy you getting to live so close to the ocean. You hadn’t said anything more about the fires, so I was assuming that your daughter’s house made it through okay and you would still be moving in September. I know this has been a long and hard summer, getting the house sold , and everything ready for moving; but you have made it though the worst part of all this, and the stress should be over soon. Looking forward to more pictures of you (and the new puppy) once you get settled in, Chrissy !
Thanks Yvonne...and thankfully their house was spared and they could return after a week. I think all zones in that fire are allowed back home... One of her good friends in a different neighborhood had fire damage..mostly the back of the house so my daughter was very lucky.
I think I have a sign on my Jeep that says 'Road Rage Prospect'.aka 'Let's get her.' Twice I have had to deal with drivers' road rage. On Tuesday I was at a red light to turn left. The light turned green and not even a chance to take my foot off the brake the driver behind me honked his horn and gunned his engine (truck). Now, I rolled my eyes and slowly proceeded to make the left turn just to irritate him. That I did. He just kept gunning the engine but it didn't make me move any faster besides I needed to make a right turn immediately after the left turn so I needed to be going slow any way. At that point I braked to make the turn. I don't know if the driver did this but the truck swerved and took off like a bat out of hell. I watched as the attached trailer aligned with the truck's movements. All along my sister just sat there like it was nothing. Then she said, 'I bet everybody was laughing at what you just did.' Today, after coming back from having blood work done, Johnny also needed his but at the VA. I had to take an alternate route because a bus was blocking the street. So as I was driving toward the intersection a car passed by me at a high speed on the left side of me. I like, 'What the heck? This is a two way street one lane each way, what are they doing?' So before I reached the intersection the car drives into traffic and stops. I'm shaking my head as the young lady is signaling me but I don't understand what she wants. It was a very nice car too. So now she is blocking traffic. A horn blows behind me and I turn around. An SUV is at the back end of the Jeep and another young lady pops her head out and starts talking to someone behind her. I'm still shaking my head. At this point the young lady in the car had turned around and pulled up beside me. I let the window down and she says, 'You need to move over.' I'm thinking 'What?' but I responded, 'I can't.' and let my window up and drove to the corner. All the while Johnny sat there like nothing happened. He knew not to say anything because I was fuming.
@Von Jones superb cool you were ! I would have wanted to go postal at that point. When people do things like that to me I put My Curse on them...I wish them flat tires..how many depends on how bad it was . Makes me feel better to a degree.
