Happy Hour in Assisted Living is certainly a sane and safe event for sure. Ours is a prelude to dinner. Residents will be observed and limited to one glass of wine making the event purely social.
A far cry for sure compared with my pre-retirement Happy Days.

Funny, but at my wife's first job in Colorado, her supervisor ask her if she was going with the rest of the department for Happy Hour on a Friday evening. She said "sure, but my husband will be with me". I dropped her off at work that morning, I went to work and after I got off of work, I picked her up and we both went. After that one time of me going with her, she was never asked again and that was fine with both of us.

Now, back in the mid 80's, when I was still single/divorced, some people in the department I worked in, would go to a local steakhouse that had a country-western nightclub connected to it. In the nightclub, they served delicious free horderves (appetizers) with 1/2 off on beer and well drinks. I took my western apparel with me to work and changed at the company. The first time my co-workers seen me in western attire, including hat, they were pretty shocked. But, some already knew I was involved in rodeo, so they said "yea, here comes Cody!"
When the horderves weren't free anymore, some co-workers stopped going. I still went a few times. The restaurant/nightclub was called The Crazy Horse and was extremely popular. Now it's closed.

Now that I have lived here for over three years I have had a chance to visit with a number of my fellow residents that shared with me why they moved here and how they afford this expensive Life Style. They all came for a tour before moving and liked the fact that the facility had it's own garden and flower beds and many of the activities that they were doing in their own homes. They have sold their homes and use the proceeds to pay for their assisted living. All of them including me view this as our last move.

Linda is in the apartment next to mine. In addition to teaching painting she sells quite a bit of her work which she does both in oils as well as water color. Her Art income helps pa Linda Johnson.jpg y her expensive rent.

A company that I worked for in the late 60s had what was billed as a monthly business meeting. It actually was nothing more than a happy hour or 3 during which you drank enough so that the speeches that followed had no impact.

You need to buy 4 or 5 of her works for your walls Lon. Who knows, maybe some day she’ll ask if you’re on the menu.

Reminds me of a small company I worked for back in the 70s. There were maybe 30 of us working there. Every Friday afternoon a few of us would walk up the road to the grocery store and buy beer, cheese & crackers. Then we'd all hang out and kill a few. All on the company's time. Good times.
