This story was on the internet today, but if you have not yet seen it, here is the article as well as a sweet video of the poor cat , who was a much loved pet, riding around on the "Gator" as the lady who owned the cat was going to the barn every day to feed their cows.
Apparently, the cat had wandered away , not surprising, since he was a tomcat, and Spring is mating season; and somehow ended up where the veterinarian lived. She thought he was a feral cat, and shot the cat through the head with her bow and arrow.
Then, she was so proud of what she had done that she held the dead cat up by th arrow through its head, and took a picture, and posted that on her Facebook page.
People saw the picture, called the vet clinic where she worked, and complained about what she had done.
The end of the story is that she has now lost her job (thankfully), will probably never, ever be hired by another veterinarian's office, and will likely face charges for killing the harmless cat.
It is horrible enough that she shot and killed the poor cat, but (to me) what makes it even worse, is that this was a person whom we TRUST with our beloved pets, and who was supposed to be dedicated to healing and saving their life, and not just killing a harmless animal for the sport of killing it.

As a cat owner with one cat mssing right now this story upsets me. What upsets me all the more is the fact that this woman thought it was some great accomplishment that she killed a defenseless animal, and she worked in a veternarians office, by right she should of felt bad about what she did. But no she out there posting it on facebook like some thoughtless idiot. Did she honestly think that it wouldn't get back to the place where she worked, or that others would find this so great. Please, there are many cat lovers and animal activist out here online, just how stupid is this woman. I hope she also is sued by the owner of this cat, its ridiculous to me how the lives of innocent defenseless animals are treated in such a callous manner, while the law choose to just look the other way.

I hate to hear about people being cruel to animals. :( Cats can be an annoyance, but there's no excuse for just slaughtering them for being on your property. Not to mention, it's illegal to kill cats, even feral ones, in most places, so she was an idiot for broadcasting it on Facebook, not that you should gloat about taking an innocent creatures life anyway.

I saw this article on Facebook as well. It was really sickening. I have 3 cats and they are my BFFs. What is most disturbing is that the woman involved is a vet. I would be absolutely sick if I found out that my vet, the one who handled my cats when I might not be around would treat an animal this way. Surely her attitude must spill over into her job. Outdoor cats can serve a useful purpose. Like keeping mice and other such critters away. What she should have done is trap and spay. I hope she loses her license over this.

I didn't have the heart to read the story, but there is no excuse for her cruelty. Hopefully she will lost her license permanently. I have some annoying cats around here who love singing but the worse I do will toss a glass of water in their direction. It doesn't stop them for a long time, but usually they will move on out of my range.

Stray cats are not usually a problem if you don't feed them. I do feed them, but then I don't consider them to be a problem. Critters get into my compost pile and spread it around sometimes, but cats are a small part of that. I set a wildlife camera up there one week, and the biggest mess came from a dog that was wearing a collar, with raccoons coming in a close second. There were two cats that came around but they didn't make a mess of things. I have come to consider the critters as performing the first part of the compost process. I see no justification for killing a cat because it's on your property. You can teach dogs about property lines, but not cats, and any veterinarian should know that.
