A beautiful day here on Long Island, I took a few snaps what's flowers are popping up. Helleborus Daffodils More daffodils
I miss my large vegetable garden, I went from starting around 400 plants a year 2 purchasing a couple so I can have at least some fresh tomatoes. These two plants are all I'm doing this year with tomatoes, I do have two more pots where I seeded squash. I planted these a few weeks ago they're really looking good.
After the hard freeze in February, I was so afraid that the palm trees in the backyard wouldn't live, but they have shown signs of life in the past month.
NICE, LOOKS TO ME THAT WHEN THEY FULL OUT THEY,LL BE SPECTATCULAR. I've tried 3 palm tree with no success. they where supposed to be for the northeast climate they never made it thru the winter no matter how much I protected them.
They are beautiful palms; I raised them from babies. I bought them probably 20 years ago from the garden center and they were about a foot tall at that time. I kept them in patio pots for a few years and finally had to transplant to the ground.
I lived in a town outside of DC that was incorporated in the late 1800s. I lived there for almost 50 years. The street I grew up on was lined with old established trees whose branches touched, forming a canopy across the roadway. I bought a house in that same neighborhood and drove that street nearly every single day. I loved this time of year. Every year in the spring I would drive up that street and notice that everything seemed to bud all at once. It would magically transform from leafless branches to a tunnel of life, seemingly overnight. It always made me smile.
Great story, I've experienced going into those "tree caves" a couple of times and really loved affect. Never had flowers though.
I saw this little fellow resting on a lily bud earlier. I wish the picture was better; he was a gorgeous silvery blue color. (The turtle in the background is actually a tile feature in the bottom of the pool.)
I LOVE dragonflies. Nature's biplanes. There's a creek that's dammed up on my property and I got tons of them. They were one of the first critters I noticed when I moved here.
