Welcome to SENIORSonly CLUB (Seniors Only Club). I hope you'll enjoy it here.

My name is Ken Anderson, and am the administrator of this forum. I have established an account under my own name, which is the one that I'll be using in this forum, saving this account for administrative matters only.

You will have (hopefully) noticed that I am doing one thing here that is different from most forums, in that I am requiring the use of a first name and a last name. I am doing this in the belief that it is far more comfortable to carry on a conversation with someone that has a real name, even when it may not be the actual name of the forum member, than when a handle is used.

For example, "This is what I think, Bill" seems far more natural than "This is what I think, RedCircle554."

If by any chance, you missed that part when you registered for an account here, your account will be deleted, but you are invited to re-register using a first name and a surname. Again, this DOES NOT have to be your real name, but choose something that you will feel comfortable with.

Things will be added to the forum from time to time but, since it's new, I want to make sure that everything is working well before I start adding new stuff to it. Please let me know if you think you should be able to do something that you can't do of, conversely, if you find that you are able to do something that you probably shouldn't be able to do, as I may still have to get some of the permissions worked out.

Although I won't be posting under this account, other than in this area, please don't hesitate to bring me up in Conversation if you have anything that you'd like to bring to my attention, or if you have any ideas that you think might be helpful.

There is no need to do so immediately, but please consider uploading an Avatar. It does not have to be a photo of yourself, or anyone, for that matter. Thanks.

I actually like the fact that people on the board use their names. It gets very confusing talking with people named "mommy2sev3nteenK1ds" or whatever... I guess maybe if I was 17, I'd be more into that - maybe... (Am I showing my age? lol)

Thank you, that was my thinking; in particular, that it was more suitable for adult conversation.

Rarely will I be posting outside of this category under this name, as I prefer to use my real name (Ken Anderson) in conversation, and have an account here under that name. I wanted to post here today to welcome those of you who are new to the forum, as I've noticed that we have a few people who have registered for accounts but have not yet participated in forum discussions.

I'd like to encourage you to participate in the conversations here, and to start your own threads if you wish. I hope that we can keep this a friendly place, while still allowing for points of view that may differ, at times. There are several topics here, and I am willing to create more if it seems that they'll be used. Please try to stay on-topic as much as possible, although it is understood that occasional digressions are a part of natural conversation. I do it myself. If you are not sure where to post something, near the bottom of the page you will see a sub-forum entitled "Not Sure Where It Goes" -- go ahead and post it there and I'll move it. Sometimes I have trouble figuring out where something should go too, so please don't be afraid to do this. If you should post something in a part of the forum that I believe is not the best place, I'll simply move it. That is not difficult, and I won't be upset about doing it.

I want you to feel comfortable talking to one another here. Obviously, in an online discussion forum, conversation takes place through words, so don't be afraid to use words. Don't use meaningless words for the sake of puffing up the length of a post but if you have more to say, please say it. You may also use photos, images, or video. I want you to enjoy your time here, and to consider it to be valuable. Thanks for your participation.

Oh, and if you haven't uploaded an avatar, please do. You will find information on doing so in this thread. An avatar need not be an actual photo of yourself, and can include pretty much any image you please, and you can change it whenever you like.

Fair enough. I was, so far as I could determine by using search engines, the only "Priscilla King" in cyberspace in 2006. Since then people have posted on the Internet that that's their real name. Well, by now it's on my EIN form...it's my real business name.

With some exceptions made in the interest of decency, pretty much anything can be discussed in this forum. If you don't see a category or sub-forum that looks as if it would fit the topic you want to discuss, post it in one of the two sub-forums of the Off-Topic category: "Off-Topic Discussions" or "Not Sure Where it Goes." In the event that I see several threads on related topics in either of these areas, I'll consider creating a sub-forum for it. If you think of a category or sub-forum topic that you'd like to have added here, suggest it in the "New Topics" thread. I may decide not to add it, or I might wait a while before doing so, since I want to keep things symmetrical, but I surely want your ideas.

Anyhow, don't be shy. If you don't see a topic that interests you, start your own thread. Stay on topic when you can but if you can't figure out where to post something, guess. It only takes me a few seconds to move a thread, if I feel the need to do so.

I'd like to welcome any new members to the forum. We have a few, I think, who haven't been posting, and that's fine if you'd prefer to lurk, but I think you'll have more fun if you participate. Pretty much anything that can be discussed legally can be discussed here, although I am sure that no one cares to wade through a bunch of spam, so that'll be removed along with those who post it. You'll see that the topics we have here cover a wide range of stuff, and other topics can be discussed in the off-topic area of the site. If it interests you and you're over fifty, there is a very good chance that it will be a good topic for this forum. Outside of this category, I don't post much under my Admin account, since I prefer to use the account under my real name (Ken Anderson) for that. Anyhow, welcome to the forum. Have fun.

I think I'm going to feel that I belong here. The forum set-up is very reaffirming with its personal touch towards new members. I appreciate Mr. Ken Anderson's idea of members addressing each other with a human name: Mentioning our chosen names which are reflective of who we are.

Learning the site's theme-- its comings and goings-- about connecting with new friends through forum posts, relevant questions and ideas shared here is a good start to be a part of Seniorsonly Club.

    Thank you:).

    * PS: How do you get those emoticons that move? (right term?)
