Thanks that will come in handy. I took some Motrin a few days ago and then later read not to take it. I forgot why I rea so many while hurting.
I know that many are worse off than me here but the pain was so intense I had some serious thoughts on how get out of it.it hurt so bad I was nausuous.I've had lots of pain but this wouldn't let up at all for more than a few minutes.

I am so sorry you are feeling like this.

I use those sites all the time.

In looking at my notes, I see I copied the following from those websites:

    Highest-Level Warning
Do not take Ibuprofen and aspirin together.
High risk of causing cause ulcers, and the stroke benefits of aspiring are negated.

    Mid-Level Warning
Do not take naproxen sodium and aspirin together.
Medium risk of causing ulcers, and the stroke benefits of aspiring are negated.

    Mid-Level Warning
Do not take naproxen sodium and Ibuprifen together.
    Medium risk of stomach bleeding.

I saw no interactions between Acetaminophen and the NSAIDS...but acetaminophen is not an anti-inflammatory so will not be efficacious for all ailments.

That being said, it's also a matter of amounts and timing. 81mg of aspirin taken in the morning is not likely to cause issues if you take a dose of naproxen sodium to fall asleep at night.

But you don't take medical (or legal or marriage) advice over the internet. Trust but verify. And ask your doctor.

edit to add: None of the above is relevant if you are taking other medications. They may carry their own risk of interactions. Or you may have a condition with which the above are contraindicated.

Nobody woud have told me a picnhed nerve could hurt that bad.
it reminds me of a joke to where the guy said " tell em your an 8 ".He is a funny man Brain Regan on YT.clean humor.

I wouldn't take another NSAID along with aspirin unless your provider recommends it. Acetaminophen is generally safe as long as you do not exceed the recommendation on the bottle. Acetaminophen is safe to take with the aspirin. Acetaminophen is said to be the most dangerous drug on the OTC market, but it is often recommended...just don't overdose as @Ken Anderson said. The number on teenaged girls I have seen who have OD'd on Tylenol is 20 or more, and they are condemned to a life of impending liver failure if they don't die and are not treated with acetylcysteine promptly. Also watch alcohol consumption when taking Tylenol.

Magnesium compounds such as the Epsom salts mentioned above may help if muscle pain is involved. A foaming topical called Theraworx Relief may be easier to use than Epsom salts, and one of our members used to recommend magnesium oil (available on Amazon) for pain.

I knw and like Ken said it can be dangerous so I won't take anymore tonight, just going back to ice then heat. When I lay down it helps to lay on that side. But I can't lay down all day. Something else would probably lock up if I did that although I did a few times. But it is closer to bed time so I made it thru another day and with less pain.I have to get ready for the tooth pulling in a couple days too. That is no fun either.

Call that dentist tomorrow and let him/her know what's going on with your neck pain and with your meds.

I'm starting to wonder now, just what can an older person do when they have as much pain as Marie has?? With people saying, "take this or that" or "don't take this, but do this", it can become really confusing. Then, add on a doctor that can't seem to help with the pain either.

Sometimes I really wonder how some folks can cope with the terrible pain they have/get. Some can simply ignore the pain, whereas that sure doesn't work for others.

I've seen it in younger people as well...people in their 30s (and sometimes 20s) with MS or with degenerative disc disease or a whole bunch of other stuff. The first thing to do is try to find the cause and "fix it," but that can't always be done. I know a guy who has been in back pain for years (disc problems), but since there is no cure, they finally severed the nerves so he is pain-free. The stability of his back shall continue to deteriorate, but at least he's not being tortured by it anymore.

It's a double-edged sword. Pain is a symptom of another condition, but sometimes it can become a condition all on its own.

I mentioned to another member that I know of several people who have taken drugs I refer to as "scramblers" for pain that cannot be resolved by normal means. One of those drugs is gabapentin. I have known people with a variety of pain issues that were resolved by this class of drug. One guy I knew was in a bad car accident and had much of his lower body crushed. He wanted to avoid opiates for obvious reasons, so his surgeon put him on one of these drugs and it helped resolve his pain. Like so many things, I would avoid these in the young, but since none of us are young (young at heart maybe), there may be a place for them. Ask your providers about them and see if they fit your case.

I'm an 8 again! Went to doc this a.m. and he gave me 5mg predezone steroid. And I got a bottle of Tylenol on the way home.
I took tylenol on the wa home and the pain is now back with a vengence. So I took another Tylenol a minute ago.
Using ice and now heat pad.

I'd watch taking the Prednisone (you did misspell the word, right?). One doctor put me on that for ringing in my one ear, didn't check to see that I was a Diabetic 2, and my blood glucose soared. Like, up and a little over 200. I had to stop taking it.

It has to be a terrible thing, trying to find something to stop, or even slow down, the pain.

I just took onr so far and yes I did mispell the word, sorry.I think you may be right about the drug and so far the ice, heat and now Tylenol stopped the pain about an hour ago.
He gave me the steriod to stop inflamation but it does have side effects. he said just take it for one week. But then what? I need to get on the P.T. exercises and stay on them.
This seems to be hell Month, between this and pulling teeth. Yet I know some have it worse it still hurts really bad when it hurts and only few minuits releif at a time, will see how long the Yulenol works so I can exercise for it.

Cody, what would you do to stop it? Any suggestions will be welcome.
