I don't know the exact words to describe this fish tank; but it hangs on the wall just like a big-screen wall-mounted television would do. It has a frame like a beautiful painting would have, and at first glance, it just looks like a realistic underwater painting------ and then you notice that the fish are actually swimming around in the picture ! !
The company makes these wall-mounted fish tanks in all different sizes, starting with a little round one that is a clock with a betta tank in it, and up to the larger ones that are framed like a painting would be. They are designed to be self-cleaning; so you do not have to spend a lot of time with cleaning the tank, like you would have to do with a regualr fish tank.
Look at this quick video, and see what you think . I think that it is one of the most innovative fish tanks ever, and would add to the decor of any home.

When I was younger we had a low tech version of that. In the rack room in the basement we had 3- 30 gallon tank in the wall a small piece of wood hiding where the tanks ended and started so the whole thing looked like one tank the first had small fish the second had median size fish and the third had large fish. It made a good conversation starter every body wondered why the big fish did not eat the smaller ones.

My mother loved tropical fish, and when I was growing up, we had fish tanks of several different sizes in the front rooms of the house. Going into the living room was a doorway with two bookshelves, one on either side of the entryway; and it was on the top of those that my mother had the largest two fish tanks. We could see them from either room, and they were close to the couches where my folks relaxed and watched television from; so always enjoyed watching the fish swimming in the tanks.
The fish that I like the best are angel fish, and bettas. I especially enjoy watching the betta, and when they flare out their fins and gills, they are just so beautiful. I always enjoyed holding a hand mirrir up to the betta tank si I could watch him showing off.

@Joe Riley , the iPad has an app for a virtual aquarium, and you can change the fish around, and the bubbling noises, too. I think they probably have more than one; and it is nice to watch those, too.

I like the idea that it hangs on the wall. I'd want mine lower, so I could see/interact with the fish more, but I don't like the fact that it's only around 4" thick, because that doesn't give the fish much room to move back and forth, and some fish don't like to move up and down as much as back and forth. I love aquariums, and have had several over the years. I had friends who had a coffee table aquarium which was nice, but it was too low for me, and would be difficult to clean. I like this this tank is pretty self-contained and self-sufficient and doesn't require much cleaning, because the maintenance is a detractor, especially due to health issues. I've seen aquarium bookcases, headboards, etc., online, and I sometimes watch Tanked, on Animal Planet. I love how creative they get with the tanks, and it's nice to learn their reasoning for why they choose the fish they do.

I agree with the not liking how it's not very thick - I know the goldfish I keep/have kept don't really like going up and down. The tank looks nice but I don't think it's the most practical, maybe if it was made a little wider it would be ok. The not practical thing is what I've seen with many of these complex tanks - for me, just a normal tank sitting on top of a cupboard is perfect, but that's just me.

I knew some people who turned an old floor model TV into an aquarium. It was so beautiful, and clever. It was also a big surprise to see motion in there!
