I don't see anyone giving me a "Like" on my posts of #6 and #10. So, does that mean that most of you think that farm/ranch kids get into trouble, like "big city" or urban kids do? If you are mentioning, responsibility, parenting and a few other words, farm/ranch kids have all of that and more. When involved in FFA, 4-H and even rodeo, these young kids have a whole lot of responsibility. Just remember, adult farmers/ranchers show their kids the fundamentals of working both. Taking care of livestock and doing crop/field work. I will always stand by farm/ranch kids!
I've spent 52 of my83 years as a teacher, including university, High School, and last adjunct at the local two year college. Our students are not being "programmed," and I see it as an insult to suggest that. By the way, I've been registered as a Democrat for most of my adult life. I find it also strange that if they have been brainwashed, why do they elect republicans in their state legislatures: https://www.patriotsnet.com/how-many-states-are-controlled-by-republicans/
I, too grew up as a 'farm kid.' My needing hearing aids today is likely because of the time I spent on a John Deer two banger as a teenager. Decades later I'm still a farm kid.
Young people? S0me parents are not much better. SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A woman was arrested Saturday after police say she struck a person with her SUV when she drove onto a football field during a brawl at a youth football game in Sugarloaf Township. Police say Rachelle Rae Zeller, 37, of Wilkes-Barre is facing aggravated assault and related charges after she assaulted one person and struck another with her vehicle. According to court papers, police responded to report of a fight involving as many as 100 people at the Joe LaRock Recreation Field on Kellers Road in Sugarloaf Township just after 7:00 p.m. Saturday. During their interviews, police say witnesses accused Zeller of punching one victim in the face and “stomping on her head”. Witnesses told police she then got into her black Mercedes SUV, drove onto the field and intentionally struck a second victim before leaving the scene. Police say there was a juvenile passenger inside the vehicle during the incident. https://www.pahomepage.com/news/wom...with-suv-during-fight-at-youth-football-game/
Yes, it's like a 'perfect storm' of factors now causing kids to go off the rails! Social media pressures and the constant fear that there won't be anything left for them when they're adults are wreaking havoc on kids' mental health. Then come the prescription drugs to 'adjust' brain chemistry, at the exact time the adolescent brain is going through massive natural changes in preparation for adulthood --- changes that continue through the teen years and on into the twenties. Which might be why some adults never do seem to reach actual adulthood, but remain impulsive and angry and violent. Their mental and emotional development were arrested and twisted, habituating them to rely on Zoloft or Oxycontin or cocaine or meth --- or all the above --- just to get through each day. --- Saw a horrifying video a few years ago in which a four-year-old was diagnosed with schizophrenia and put on a strong anti-psychotic medication. Her 'symptoms' seemed to be an incredibly active imagination --- talking to imaginary friends and 'seeing' things that aren't there. Sounds like normal toddler behavior to me! Can't even imagine what that poor girl will be like as a teen.
I didn't have a farm upbringing, but wonder what kind of person I'd have been if I had. I'd come in from school a half hour ahead of my mom, who picked up my brother at school, and then read or do homework until supper was ready. Basic little household chores on weekends, but nothing to instill a respect for hard work. (-:
Yes, it seems totally non-credible, to me anyway, for conservatives to continually and loudly point blame for literally everything at 'the libs', when it's 'the right' often in control at the state level.
Perhaps but the most recent debacle is the teaching of CRT in our public schools. Of note, 22 states have either signed into law or introduced bills to prevent the “theory” from being taught and those are all predominantly red states. The RNC in general is against the teaching of it but the DNC has vowed to “hit back harder” trying to enforce the teaching of CRT. Now, when we say that a state has “control” we also have to examine what the Federal Government has to do with any state initiatives in that if the state receives any monies or grants from the Government, those monies and grants stand as the sword of Damocles over the heads of state leadership. As a small example: Kay Ivey of Alabama went against the covid mandates as laid out by Joe Biden so in retaliation the government cut the infusion supplies by 2/3. The same applied to Florida which coerced that good governor into going to an outside source. Another example was the 55MPH mandate (which we all remember) in which the government threatened each state that didn’t abide by it with the holding back of infrastructure monies. In a nutshell, regarding your statement concerning the leadership of a state is weak at best. Many states and their leadership cannot financially afford to go against the government. Just because the leadership of a state is red or blue doesn’t mean that they have control especially if there are ANY ties with the Fed.
if you feel insulted...you feel insulted.... i can voice my opinion ...same as you......however... i am not insulted... the end.
I'm with you Teresa, I believe that there's way too much political influence in our school systems(programming is what it's called).
