My good strap wrench got lost in out last move and was forgotten until your post. It occurred to me that a proper strap wrench was also good for opening stubborn jars/bottle caps. Am I remembering this correctly?

Thanks @John Brunner. This is the kind of basic stuff I need to know. I was going to post about the purchase in my journal thread instead, so I could ask some questions and it wouldn't take this thread off topic, but no one ever sees it there.

Just one thing. The EzGo cart models that do have a video, have an unusual set up. There is a triangle plate with 3 bolts you remove. Under that plate the oil filter pulls out of a large hole This one has an oil filter that sticks out all by itself just like a car would. Hope it doesn't have to be jacked up any.

It could be. I break my wood stove flu apart every season at the stove to attach a catch-bag for when I run a brush from the roof, and I use a large strap wrench to twist the thing so I can break it free. I've also used it on my water filter canisters, until I bought a dedicated wrench for that.

Some engines sure have strange set-ups. When the twist-on oil filters are recessed, that's when you use that socket wrench (first on the left.) One website said that is what they are specifically designed for, but did not mention what types of vehicles. I've used all three, only having bought a couple of the pliers types when I got my Kuboto...the oil filter lines right up with the frame. This is not the only thing that was obviously installed BEFORE they put the engine into the tractor.

I'm lucky that I'm skinny enough to slide under my truck and the Volvo I had without jacking the things up, although I'm at the point I pay others to do this (because of the hassle of used oil disposal.)

Good for you for tacking new stuff!!! I always smile when I read your projects.

A pair of leather walking shoes, they on special for $100 however it’s the same company that sent me second hand shoes a few weeks ago that cost me $150 …

.(I don’t wear second hand shoes ) I was really annoyed receiving worn smelly shoes.

They gave me a voucher for $50 off any shoes so I took advance of getting a pair on special for only the fifty $ after using my credit voucher
They are the same as this only Black https://au.ecco.com/ecco-flexure-ru...dwvar_292333_color=01001&dwvar_292333_size=38

I recently had an eye exam and ordered glasses from the optometrist. I was going to buy a second pair (sunglasses) but when they calculated the price for them it was almost $600. We have vision insurance coverage but it only covers one pair of glasses a year, so I have to pay for additional glasses.

I told them nevermind and asked for a copy of the Rx. I wrote down the style/model of the sunglasses frames then came home and ordered them from glassesUSA.com for $187! I received them a couple of days ago and they are very nice so I'm happy with that deal.

I've been tempted to try that, but there always seems to be some obscure measurement that I'm missing.

I remember the first time I tried to order glasses online; I needed the "distance between the pupils" measurement or whatever. I called the optometrist and they gave me the measurements. I think they are called "OD" and "OS."

I was going to order prescription glasses online once, several years ago, but there was some problem. I don't remember what it was, but it might have been the OD and OS measurements you're talking about. I didn't know what it was talking about, so I ended up going to the eyeglass place that is next to the optometrist's office.

Outside of DC, there are a ton of dedicated eyeglass places in the malls. Where I am today, not so much. So I buy my lenses from my optometrist for my existing frames...I have two frames I use for alternate prescriptions. It's still a very expensive way to go, even after my [marginal] insurance pays its share. But I only update the script every other year.

And I use non-polarized clip-on sunglasses, because my car has a HeadsUp display that projects onto the windshield. If I wear polarized lenses, I cannot see it.

Next time you get an eye exam, ask for a written prescription that includes those measurements. Some of the websites include instructions on how to measure yourself but I didn't feel confident doing so.

I have re-used some frames in the past. In fact, I got a pair made in the Walmart optometry department with my old frames a while back. I've also had good luck with Costco but lately I don't have any interest in driving 45 minutes to get to the closest store.

My new prescription barely changed at all but my glasses are over 2 years old so I went with new ones.

I like kipper snacks. And sardines. King Oscar is my favorite when I can find it (mostly a childhood carryover), but for the past few years Polar is what's available in the stores around here. That and Beach Cliff.

Are those yours, or did you get them as a treat for the critters?

I don't feed them anything with salt. The kippers are for me. I like kippers and sardines, but they're both the kind of thing that I'll eat and enjoy for a week or so, but then I don't want them again for several months. King Oscar is one of the brands they carry in the store here, along with Beach Cliff, by the way, but I have to order the Polar ones online.
