It's raining pretty hard now. There's a line of thunderstorms (with lightening) coming through. I just heard a *CLICK* as though it hit the house, saw the flash of light, and had the BOOM of thunder all at once...but my lights are still on. I've seen my satellite dish get struck a couple of times over the years.
My yard's a swamp right now (thank goodness I mowed yesterday), but I'm kinda thinking it might be good conditions to pull up some small trees. I just don't want to tear things up with my tractor. But we got heat & humidity coming this week, and I'm a woosie.
This has been an odd spring. Last week was a lot of rain. And it has been quite cool, which I like. There were three days that were quite warm, last month. I know this because hubby was whining. I told him to buy a roku for the basement; it's finished (he always thought I was nuts for finishing our basements.). We have air conditioning but it does not cool his bedroom. We had a guy say to open all the little metal switches on the ducts, which I did, so it now cools the kids' bathroom up there but not hubby's, But now we will be too poor to run air conditioning. Anyway, forecast is for two days near NINETY. then back to 70. Then to actual normal temps 70-80s. Must be on the 21st? First day of summer? Sheep shearer said he'd come today. I usually have him come in April but shearers are getting fewer and far between.
Our summer may be over as it was 38 F. when I got up this morning. Oh well, we have had a good month of summer....
I grew up on a farm/ranch in east-central Idaho, where rain was scarce. The fields were planted in late April early May. EVERY work day was 10-12 hours (if not longer), The only "arse sitting" was when an infrequent rain popped up. Every other place I've lived since then, four, has had more rain, one a great deal more, including where we live now. Still, whenever it clouds up, I get this very good feeling. hoping it will last all day.
It is hot here today, too ! The weather channel app says it is 94 but feels like 107, and it certainly does feel like that. Poodle and I were out splashing around in the swimming pool for a while to cool down. This is Marco Poodle out swimming in the pool.
Very hot in Houston and no rain in the foreseeable forecast. I'm afraid we're going to have a full-blown drought this year since our typically wet spring has been bone-dry.
It was 97/98 on Saturday/Sunday here. That is some 15 degrees above our normal June temperature. Today, Monday, 98, but tomorrow and Wednesday low 80's (thank God). After Wednesday, we go back up into the high 90's again. Just to get some exercise, we went to local lake yesterday. Got there around 11AM, before the 4PM heat set in. Lots and lots of boats to go in, but we didn't have ours. Ours isn't ready yet. Somebody living in Florida wouldn't believe the number of boats there are in Colorado.
This was actually his first time wearing his Shark Suit, @Mary Stetler . Bobby got it for Poodle last year, but we had a chilly, wet summer and no one even got in the little pool except for Bobby a few times. He has trouble staying afloat, so Bobby thought the doggie swim outfit would help Poodle with his swimming. With all of the heat in the forecast, it looks like we will all be spending time in the pool this year.
The heat is coming in big time tonight and we have big thunder boomers going on now. We can probably swim in the ditch. My pond is a bit scummy right now.
Highs in the 70s here with lows in the low 40s F. Not much rain though. If you guys need a break from the heat....
