On a strict party line vote, the Democrats just passed a massive spending bill to double the size of the IRS, increase energy prices and increase your taxes in the midst of an inflation-related recession-soon-to-be depression caused by already exorbitant government spending. I think it is insane. Other opinions?

He's hiring 87,000 new agents. I cannot lay my hands on the existing figure, but while that doubles the number of total IRS employees, it increases the number of agents by a factor of 5 or 6, if memory serves. They are not going after rich people...if bothered in the first place, rich people will just litigate the heck out of things then arrive at a settlement. Monitoring every transaction of $600 or higher is not "rich people."

As a bachelor and after marrying I and wife have paid our taxes, national, state, and county fully and honestly. I believe everyone and all courps should do the same.
Objecting to this legislation seems to suggest that tax dodging is part of the American way.

They are going after private property soon.

The number of IRS agents will outnumber the number of border agents.

I would surmise that IRS agents are more likely to vote Democrat than Border Patrol agents and, since we're no longer letting Border Patrol agents do their jobs anyhow, that makes sense from a Democrat perspective.

    Good afternoon to all-
I agree totally with a previous poster who admitted to paying his taxes and supporting any efforts to make sure EVERYONE pays her/his fair share We have always paid our fait share, and I am proud to pay my taxes.
.If more IRS agents compel those who weasel out on paying their fair share, then hire more IRS agents. And if your taxes on your home amount to $20,000- then you certainly live in a different neighborhood than I've ever resided.
If all paid their fair share, life would be a lot more equitable in our country than it is now where rich can pay lawyers to find ways around the tax man, and poor folks have to pay up.
Paying taxes is one of the costs of having a decent country and a good place to live.

    good evening to all- Ed

People familiar with the act say the majority of new audits will be among those making $75,000 or less, and judging by past performance with the Obama Administration, every conservative organization, many churches, and every gun advocate group will be audited. Auditing the wealthy just gums up the system and prevents the REAL targets of this bill from getting their punishment. If you vote for Trump, DeSantis, or any other like candidate, expect to be called to task, as our votes are no longer truly secret.

Do not worry, illegal immigrants will be exempt from scrutiny. They could have hired a few more border agents instead....
