We have battened down anything that could blow away. My son just asked if he should lower my martin gourd poles but I don't think the wind will be strong enough to blow them down. If they say the wind will be worse, we will let them down in the morning.
Some strong winds few fallen huge tree limbs across drive but other wise nothing ,not even a sprinkler of rain from the storm. Today, sunny and nice.
Still heavy rain and gusty wind but we haven't lost power. Lights have flickered a couple of times but still on.
So now the forecast is down from 3"-5" of rain to 2" or less. These idiots sure love their Ratings Hysteria.
The first track for Ian had it going right through where I live, but only a tropical storm by then. They were predicting 2-4 inches of rain and high winds. Where it finally went, we didn't even get a drop of rain. It was just a little windy one day and you could feel the heavy humidity in the air. We lucked out.
Hurricane tracking has gone down the tubes with the rest of weather forecasting. The more tools the forecasters get, the worse their product becomes. I suspect hurricane forecasting was most accurate when the Navy actually flew into the storms a 300 to 500 feet to see what's what. The Air Force was too scared to do that and the Navy discontinued it some years ago for reasons I don't know. Too much reliance on computers and satellites...and not enough thinking involved.
I really believe that the more hysteria there is, the more eyeballs there will be on the local newscast and the more dollars will be spent in grocery stores.
Still rainy and in the 40s F., but that is supposed to end this weekend as a huge cold weather mass is moving in from Siberia. We'll have to wait and see what happens. It has been well below zero F. there for weeks now, but I guess it decided to move across the Bering Sea to visit us. Again, I am somewhat protected from weather from the north by the Alaska Range, but If it comes from the west, we could be significantly impacted.
Sunny and just warm enough. It don't get no better than this. And this is supposed to last for the next several days.
Cold and windy we had a huge wind storm go through parts of SA. Wednesday night ,it even blew a widen out of a 8 story building right in the city centre
