Howdy Kay! it’s nice to see a new face. Welcome to SoC !

Abut once a year a Humana appointed retired doctor, NP or a nurse schedules a home appointment with us and actually does a lot more than they do in the doctor’s office.
It’s a lot more personal, whomever is doing the exam takes their time and the exam takes about 30+ minutes for each of us.

As Yvonne wrote, we do get points for going to a wellness exam but we also get points for the home thing. Combined with other healthy choices we make, we decide what gift card we want and spend it accordingly. My last $50 card was a Lowe’s card and although I really wanted to use it on a tool, I used it for some home repair project.

Welcome, Kay and yes, I have the exam every year because my secondary insurance gives me a discount for doing it yearly. I agree it is a waste of time and nothing but a federal census-taking scam.

Did they not ask you if you were sexually active? That is the question that triggered my sarcastic sense of humor. I ask the young nurse to define sexually active and be specific. After a descriptive in-depth rambling by me inquiring what constituted sexually active she put me down as a no. She has never asked me again. Last year I asked her why she didn't ask me the sexually active question and she said it was easier to put me down as a no than discuss what constituted senior sex.

Haha...too funny! Good for you. I bet she was embarrassed to even ask such a stupid question. I honestly don't think these young girls in the doctor's offices have a clue what a "senior" is or how to talk to them. They'll find out one day, though, what it's like to be on the other side of the questions.

She said it was a question that the federal government required her to ask. I told her to give me the name of who wanted to know and also if it was a guy a photo might be nice hahaha! She has put up with my twisted sense of humor for years.

Since turning 65, I've had the Wellness exams each year, basic evaluations on some
things, memory quiz, updating my patient chart, and related reviews. Medicare covered
all costs on this visit for me.

I had my first Wellness visit. After it was completed I think I understand why the MA did it and not the doctor. Why would you want to see a grown person do some things a child would do? The MA didn't even watch me. It was awkward.

Yep, get them every year. During ours, we’re told to remember 3 random words (e.g. sunrise, chair, banana). Then there are the questions about have we fallen, etc., blah, blah. Then we’re told to draw a clock face with the numbers and draw the hands so it says some specified time. Then they go back and ask us those 3 damn words. So far so good but I know that is going to be the first thing I screw up.
