Well, two things I'd have to ask you: Where do you live and how old are you? Both have a significant thing when it comes to living where we do. At night, in our bedroom, it came be 73 degrees and that's definitely too cold for us. I'm 73 and wife will be 75 next month. And, to tell you the truth, Krystal, my step-mother would have my step-dad make a fire in the wood/coal furnace in the basement, in the middle of the summer. You read right............in the middle of the summer! She was extremely skinny and would get cold in the evenings.
We see that here, but definitely not for our age bracket. If you aren't kidding, you must be really tough!
Both @Lois Winters and @Beth Gallagher have been inspirations to me to carry on despite all the medical maladies that plague me and just when I get all kissy kissy with my maladies, some new thing pops up and pulls the rug out from my feet, and once again I land on my already bruised, tired, and skinny ass. I regain my stance and after having a fit and using R-rated language, then I get to work learning about my latest malady and what can be done about it. Then I visit my PCP for referrals to specialists. I ready myself for spending some serious cash. My latest was after several intensive eye exams, no one could figure out why my vision was double and blurry other than my already viral damaged trigeminal nerve being a factor since it decided to act up more than normal and send pains through my head that got my attention even if fast asleep. Finally, at a highly qualified ophthalmologist, it was discovered that my double vision problem could be corrected with a prism in my lens. $1K later I am seeing great having defeated the wonky eye. Putting aside all that happy love story, I am still faced with the damnation doom of the genetic cancer testing result. By this result, I should have died from cancer years ago, but not the colon cancer that was removed successfully. So now I wait until early spring to undergo cancer testing again to see if there is any sign of any kind of cancer. I don't fear colon cancer again, but do fear the doomsday genetics that I will either have vaginal or breast cancer before I reach 80 The interesting thing is no women in my family, even second cousins have had breast, cervical, or vaginal cancer, but all the men over 50 have had prostate cancer. I mean all of them 100% including grandfathers and even great-uncles. Genetics say prostrate cancer in males translates to breast, cervical, and vaginal cancer in females. So today I have nothing to rant about except the snow, fog, and cold. Seeing that nature has spoken and isn't attacking me personally, I will just get tough and call genetic cancer testing in my case, fake news. You know it, I know it, Donald knows it, everybody knows it, that is except for Musk since I don't twitter. I refuse to become a twit!
That's about 46 degrees past my cold limit. I didn't catch the full report for us over the weekend but rain and cold was mentioned. I am sitting here with both air conditioners running. Walking outside of the store a while ago I was sweating like I was working. I am so glad I do not catch colds often or cough unless I am choking on some dust, which there is a lot of where I live. My best purchase in over several winters was a new electric blanket, it keeps me in the game. In the past I went several years without a blanket and froze to death. When it does go down to the low teens I have to get up anyway and check the pipes to see if anything froze. I have ran both hot and cold water at a low stream at 14 and it still froze. Next time it will be a better than low stream and I will get up every couple hours to give it a strong stream for a minute or two just to make sure it does not freeze again.
If I am going to shovel a small portion of the sidewalk or drive, or if I am just going to feed the feral cats or carry something to the compost pile, I'll do that in short pants, a tee-shirt, and flip-flops, but I don't spend long periods of time in the snow dressed in that way.
You need to get a job as a postal carrier or UPS package driver. Well, the flip-flops will have to go but the rest of your costumer fit perfectly.
We didn't bother with a fire, and the house dropped to 64 F. with no heat and the temp outside at 20 F. The furnace ran while the generator was running, but I don't have that going overnight unless it is -40 or something. The woodstove will heat the house just fine, but the heat isn't even.
It is always a good idea in these cases, Beth, to have one's DNA studied as it may benefit others with these rare cancers. I encourage anyone to have it done if they receive such a diagnosis. Many think their DNA will be sold for nefarious purposes, and this is untrue. Stay well good friend and keep the faith.
The first major front came thru at exactly 3am this morning just like they said it would. It rained for an hour and a half and I mean really hard. Still will be hanging around until noon so more is possible. I heard some far off to the north thunder so more to come. New midweek will be the real kicker with rain and cold coming in. I fed the little cats in the bathroom and all showed except their mother. She is probably locked out due to high water all around. These four young ones must have slept in their ice chest, only one was in the bathroom when I opened the door but it don't take long to have the full crew stuffing their faces. I am thinking about moving that ice chest down to the same area the bathroom is so they can be nearer to the warmth of the heater in the bathroom. It would help them giving them something to jump up on and not have to jump so high to the entrance hole that was the plumbing access. This weather will start getting to normal soon and very cold and not in the high 70s as it was all week this past week.
Soooooo….I’m out on the porch and need something printed but the print function said it couldn’t find an air printer. i go into the gym / printer room and made sure the Epson was turned on and went back on the porch and tried again with the same previous results. Being a little more impatient today than on other days, I took my Ipad into the gym / printer room and slapped the Epson on the side to get it’s attention, turned the ipad around so it could see what I wanted and hit the print button. It started printing. Good thing too because the axiom of the day is: when at first ya don’t succeed, use a bigger hammer!
The young people here get away with so much, it's no wonder there are so many of them moving to this city. Was at the local VA Clinic this morning, which still requires everyone to wear a mask. That's fine with me and I keep a pack of new ones in our vehicle. The Greeter at the door said to me "it's nice to see someone come in with a mask on and not want to argue about wearing one into the clinic." There were two young guys, sort of southern "Redneck" looking, that sat down at the one end of the lobby, took off their masks and started talking to each other. I didn't see any VA Police around and nobody said a word to them. Still seeing a lot of expired tags on vehicles here from June 2022.
The USPS won't delivery our mail if they have to walk through two inches of snow but the UPS drivers will walk through a snowdrift.
