Yes, if a person, Senior or younger, doesn't believe they should shoot a gun anymore, by all means, leave it alone. I got my full vision back in 2018 after having cataract laser surgery/lens replacements in both eyes. Cost us around $3,000 for the new lenses, but very, very well worth it.

Believe me, if I see any signs that either of us should stop target shooting, we will indeed stop. Will keep the 9mm, but sell the others. Shooting is definitely fun, but when health problems interrupt it, that ends the shooting.

Good you got your vision back. I may be able to restore some of mine but the peripheral is permanent according to doctor.

I agree, and if I see a person with a holster dangling on his belt and doesn't have a badge, I see an idiot.

For those developing eye problems that make it difficult to acquire a good sight picture, all is not lost. I was an RSO for a few years at a fairly busy range. Because we were all armed while on premises, we were required to qualify every 6 months, almost identical to local police qualification. I was becoming increasingly frustrated with my eyes. I looked into diopter correction of various types and it just wasn’t working. My far vision is fine but if I could clearly see the front sight, then the target was unacceptably blurry.

After some experimentation, I ended up shelving my G17 and bought a G19 MOS with a Trijicon Dual Illuminated RMR (I don’t like batteries). All of a sudden, shooting was fun again, no frustration. With both eyes open, just focus on the target, bring the gun into position and there’s a nice clear yellow spot superimposed on the target. Based on my own experience, I would highly recommend having a look at them (lots of types) if you find yourself getting frustrated because of old eyes.

Well here in England we don't have anywhere near the number of private owned guns that the US has and
many of the individuals here who do have them - shouldn't have by law.

Would I be comfortable around one ? - would depend which end I was at ! :D

…and here’s one of my favorites. Starting around the 7 minute mark, she goes into why the focus on “assault weapons”. I like her matter of fact presentation and, although some of what she says might sound radical to some, I don’t see any real problems with her reasoning or justification for saying what she does.

Great video, @Thomas Windom. Everybody should listen to her arguments. Nothing offends me more than a Progressive politician who takes an oath to protect and defend the Constitution when they have absolutely no intention of doing so.
