My great-grandparents only had an outhouse on the farm. I really hated using it.

When they finally had a bathroom installed in the house, Paw refused to use it til his dying day. He said it just warn't PROPER havin' the privy that close to what he laid his head down at night.

Y'all cruisin for a bruisin was poetic boys facing off with tight fists, whereas y'all itchin for a switchin was a parental poet trimming up a willow switch.

As the old song goes,…..Welllll, , the apple butter paddle is, all in splinters now, cuz mother wore it out a ticklin’ me.

I’ve been thinking. (dangerous thing at best)
Music has always been a great conveyor of the evolution of language in that one single song, complete with all the idiosyncrasies of the time, can be played world wide for everyone of any culture or nationality to learn from.
Just as the baggy pants look went viral because of a single rap (dare I write) artist, words like ya’ll have become commonplace in all corners of the U.S. largely because of music and the musicians who produce it.

It is also a creek in Philadelphia language. When I firs heard my cousins use that expression, I had no idea what they were talking about.
Let's roast some marshmallows down at the crick? Say what?

I love walking into a room and yelling, "hi, y'all."

Stops them dead since I am from NJ.

How do people here on Seniorsonly, pronounce the word aunt ? As in ANT or ONT ?
My hearing is now too bad to hear much of anything, but when my hearing was good I hated to hear "ONT".
