I haven't been banned over there, probably because I had several on my ignore list, including the moderator.

I don't have the mod on ignore...but certainly several others blocked....however, sometimes regardless of how you try.....the bad smell follows you around sometimes, I've witnessed that on a few occasions...

It was the Moderator who PM'd a warning to me of complaints being lodged. Took some wangling, but came to believe the complaints stemmed from politically incorrect words, they labeled them "highly offensive". I was deeply shocked to hear that words I and everyone I've known all my life had used all our lives, were now "forbidden". Curious? Risky business, repeating them here, perhaps, but it's literary, right? "Oriental", and "Chinaman" were two. I countered with logical questions, questioning the "offensiveness": An English guy is still acceptably known as an "Englishman" (get the comparison? China-man?). French man a Frenchman, perfectly OK. And so forth. Questioning intent pissed off folks even more.

Maybe I did "flirt" a time or two, but 'twarn't nuthin' meant to harm by it........

Right, that's what I kept seeing over and over, that it was about good content, well, it said content. There was also a program you could use to see "what people are searching for" to help you pick a popular niche. I remember trying to pick one, but never got into it enough. I wanted to have a site and make loads of money from home, lol! At least I was smart enough not to "pay" somebody to send me their "wonderful" book of "how to".

I used to belong to the Warriour forum, and I really got hit with the offers when I started posting there, ha!

Oh, I've heard that one Mari;) It's also a bit like a "marriage" counselor that doesn't have any successful relationships. But I think sometimes people can have a lot of knowledge about something but not apply it to themselves too;)

I so wanted to write, people kept egging me on, mostly my sister. I wrote one, single funny short-story, and published just online at some article site. Never even got noticed. But my sister was convinced I was a great writer, LOL:) I don't have the passion for it. I think a person really has to have a passion for whatever they take up. I don't know what's happening to me, but I feel as if I've lost interest in the things I did love doing. Maybe it's just the ups and downs of life;)

oh, forgot that I wrote about what had happened to me when I turned 50 and decided I was going to learn how to inline skate. So it was a true story, very exaggerated. I think the best stories have a lot of the authors' own experience. Or they love to study a subject. Like one of my fave authors, Sue Henry. She wrote all about Alaska, the iditirod etc. She knew what she was talking about as far as I know. I guess I wouldn't for sure, know I mean, LMBO!!

Sure! But I was referring to a person of Asian (now the PC word) descent. (You knew that, I'll bet!).

I used to go out with a Chinese girl when I lived near Chinatown.

Problem was, we'd finish our date and half an hour later I'd want another one.

What is "correct" changes..the Urban Dictionary says "Oriental" is fine for inanimate objects..but not people. I think nobody should be banned over that mistake...so what? I think sometimes people just take themselves too seriously..and appoint themselves the PC police. I can't believe the silly things that annoy people..like a little totally harmless flirting and fun on a forum keeps it light.

I think some who think their constant political rhetoric is a Godsend from heaven..should realize some think it came from the other place. I mean that's why we have 24 hour "news" channels acting like their opinion of the news is newsworthy..:)

ditto on this @Karen McKenzie. I don't have cable now, so I am not bombarded with the "news" "late-breaking" all that. I wouldn't know what to believe as truth from any of it anymore. Heck, it's even hard to believe what I see with my own eyes!!

I agree Karen, I'm not an offensive type person anyway but sometimes say something not PC per today's standards and I don't mean it to be negative. Seems the only people that are allowed to be made fun of or called names are white people. :) anything goes there.

I never got the memo about oriental though.
