I tried it for the first time because of this thread. I can see the benefit.

I forgot about her need to convert her image file types, if we assume her circumstances correctly. She was posting at a good clip until this subject came up.

I can't attest to it but there is a free download on Amazon of a HEIC to JPG Converter, but the only review says "Doesn't work."

I just read that you can download the CODEC (I assume that's what it is) from the Microsoft Store onto your Windows machine in order to view HEIC file types, but converting them requires 3rd party software.

I've not heard of HEIC file types before. They seem to have lots of advantages over JPEGs.

@Barb Eree, we may not be able to help you with moving photos from your Kindle to the forum, but we'd rather have your words, anyhow.

Thank you Ken. I just need to save them on a free hosting site in order to get a jpg image. I am an artist and thought I'd share some of my work on the craft board. All in good time. :)

What I don't understand is that if you can get them on a free hosting site, you should be able to get them here. If you can't drag-and-drop, you should be able to upload them as a file - which is the button on the bottom of the reply form - in between Save Changes and Preview.

When my computer or laptop was a 7, I could just download pix from my camera to a file on the computer and move it. Not sure what 10 did but I can't seem to do that anymore.

I've not experienced any issue like that with WIN10. The only problem I've had is after I started using an iPhone there's to "Eject" or "Disconnect" option for the connected device...you just unplug it. Then several times for the next few days, I'll get a burst of maybe 10 "Phone had been disconnected" type messages, all at once. Other than that annoying issue, when I hook up either a Droid or an iPhone, I can drag & drop the photos fine.

I'm sure there's got to be a fix for you. If you want to start a thread about it in the Gadgets & Tech Talk forum, we can try to help find a solution.

Hi Mary. I've learned from a lot of frustration that Win10 directs photos to the OneDrive feature instead of to the hard drive as Win7 did. It was a pain on how to retrieve those photos onto the hard drive. I would copy them to hard drive and the OneDrive would again load those copies like a new file, ugh . I ended up with over 7000 photos mostly copies of copies of my attempts . This in turn lead to getting a message that my free space on the One Drive was full and asked me if I wanted to buy more space . Then on to Youtube and Google to find out how to delete all those copies of copies, ugh o_O. I'm still working on that process to this day :(.

You haven't did anything wrong. Win10 is nothing like Win7. I personally am leaning toward buying Windows 10 for Dummies. :D

My son told me about this and sadly it didn't work for me either.

I found this on Google FAQs How do I export photos from Kindle? Hope this helps.

Download photos and videos to your device for offline usage.
    1. Open Amazon Photos.
    2. Select the photos or videos you want to download. Note: It is not possible to download entire albums. Open the album, and select all the pictures you want to download.
    3. Click on Download.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

I downloaded a sample HEIC file from here, and the native photo program in my WIN10 opens it up.
I opened it in a free photo viewer/edit program I've been using for over 25 years and can save it as a jpg.

    Here it is:
    samplefilehub.jpg

The photo program is IfranView. You can download it free from their website here. (Make sure you know whether you have 32 Bit WIN 10 or 64 Bit WIN 10.) I can attest to its safety. This is one of those free programs I get so much regular use out of that every few years I kick the guy $10. (I do the same with AdBlock and a couple of other "pay us if you use it" programs.) I use this program regularly to resize photos before I upload them to the forum...smaller files take less bandwidth and the forum won't have an orientation issue with them.

Here is a list of the file types you can Save As (convert to.) I don't know why the program can go from an HEIC but cannot save to an HEIC.

Here is another HEIC viewer/converter for the Kindle on Amazon.

    There are 14 ratings:
    9 give it 5 Stars
    1 gives it 4 Stars
    4 give is 1 Star

There are 3 written reviews, all of them 1 Star.

I had no idea it did anything other than display e-books.
