Do you guys require inspections? How will you pass without replacing the tank?

Sell it and buy a scooter.

No inspection required in CA. Except smog check if it's an older car.

That ... could explain the clunkers that are all over the roads. Scary.

Still - does Denise want to be riding around in a truck that's leaking gas? What happens when she lights up a doobie?

That's a bit scary, in the UK everything is checked from the bulbs, seat belts, tyre tread depth to brakes and suspension, every year from when the car reaches 3 years old. The fee is about $80.

I got it covered, met an older guy at DMV that will fix it for me. He's pretty sure it not a "hole" but some sort of "sleeve" type thing.

Well, one step at a time. Things went easy-breezy at DMV. It's all in who you have wait on you, I swear, what a crock that gal gave me the other day. I am licensed and registered, I have 60 days to pass the test for smog, which was passed in the last time in 2014 in Oregon. The truck is really in good shape for it's age;)

Also, I can get my drivers license anytime she said, it's always a flat, 33 bucks. I told her I just wanted to wait until next payday to do the rest;) Plus, I need to read the manual for CA, as I think it's a bit different than Oregon;)

My 1997 Altima always passed and I was always a nervous wreck when they were running the test.

I hear you Chrissy, it's hard not to be nervous, I was today even though I prayed, and "felt" that things, no matter how they went, I would survive. The "gas" tank thing is going to be an easy fix. This guy has had his shop for 41 years, I'd say he knows what he's talking about. He won't charge to tell me what the issue is, so I'll just have to wait and see about that part;)

Not here, I do remember it in PA. though, maybe cause we don't have snow and such and our cars don't rust as fast, etc. don't know why we don't have them.

We have a total inspection every year in Texas too. ... everything you mention Terry. It's been $30 yearly.
Fees might be changing, but not the inspection. We are going to a new one tag system with the registration included for 2016.

We used to have lots of old bangers running around with worn out brakes broken suspension and bald tyres, it's stopped all these dangerous cars being on the roads, unfortunately the drivers don't get a yearly check up so they still cause accidents :rolleyes:;)

You can't get road tax for your car without a test certificate, it's all logged online so you can get easily caught.

We don't need them, just checked. You can be ticketed for having anything wrong with your car and it's your responsibility to have everything working. Also read a study that showed inspections didn't improve accident rates, etc.

I don't know what road tax is, Terry. I pay close to $300 every year for a new sticker for my license plate.
