I bet it's just an out-of-control cop and not a real statue.

I found several references on a quick search. Here’s a Facebook post from the group itself. What search engine are you using?

I consider this an opinion vs an actual news release. When I watched video there was no stopping them as implied.
Anything from FB is questionable to me. Sorry.

Did you click on the link Thomas put in his original post? It said that there are senators looking into the incident.

Also, you can see at the very end of the video, when they are required to stop, someone approaches the “conductor” and puts his hand on his shoulder and speaks to him. I’m not sure why you find this so hard to believe given the current climate in DC.

Here it is now on Twitter.

I'm finding many references to it too, but mostly from right-wing agenda sites and blogs. This doesn't mean that it isn't true, of course. Most of what the majority of the country thinks of as the mainstream media is no more objective than these, and they wouldn't be inclined to report this, but I'd think that the Washington Times or the New York Post might if it were accurate. The video shows that the choir was indeed stopped, however, which lends some credence to it. What we know seems to be that the choir was prevented from completing their singing of the National Anthem, so the question is why. Can anyone think of another reason, or something that couldn't wait until they completed the song?

If Joe Biden or Kamala Harris stumbled in, the choir might have been stopped so that they could be officially recognized.
When the President walks in on any event in the W. House, the protocol is that everyone stands and stops what they are doing.

Dunno if that was the reason but it’s the only one I can think of.

Ironic when the president himself has difficulty standing.

When I saw that happening on the Tube, besides pity, the only thing that flashed into my head was the swearing in of Kamala Harris.
Nightmare during the day kind of a thing.

After @Ken Anderson made his "only finding it in right-wing outlets" conversation, I, too, tried to find reference to the story outside of that echo chamber. I came up empty. And all the existing stories start off with "It's been reported that..." So I'm not sure who will be able to independently verify this. At the very minimum, we need an answer one way or the other on the "It breaks the rules" or the "It may offend others" statements, and then get details on the specifics and source of any such rule. At least the existence of those rules is objectively verifiable and then fixed, if they do exist.

But individual behaviour does need to be looked into and the appropriate parties held accountable (and that includes anyone who may have slandered a guard and put those kids in this negative spotlight based on a lie.)

It’s probably more silly than we can imagine. Many years ago, when I felt safe going to DC, I wanted a shot of a outside museum wall, wide angle, small aperture for maximum depth of field, so I put the camera on my tripod and was taking a picture when a cop (park ranger?) walked up and told me I couldn’t take a picture. After a couple questions, I determined that it was OK to take the picture handheld but I needed a “tripod permit” to use a tripod. More discussion. The thinking apparently was that only professional photo crews would be using tripods and, if someone was there in a professional capacity, taking pictures, they wanted a permit process so they knew what was going on.

And freedom marches closer to its demise. People who live in those regions get used to the fact that our default state is maximum freedom with a few statutory limitations (don't steal, don't kill, don't trespass, etc.) Instead, you can't do a damned thing at all in such regions without first checking to see if it's legal. The compliance is fear-based. The law is everywhere and people don't want to get caught breaking it.

I wonder if the cops would arrest people with canes, as they, too, are in violation of not having a tripod permit.
