Nothing against Cody or anything else but I just had a funny thought, or at least, funny to me. Caller from Indiana: So, where is your insurance company located? Answer: Well, the headquarters is in Iowa but I am presently located in a bedroom in Colorado.
I often ask where the Customer Service person is when I'm on the phone. Argentina and the Philippines are tied for 1st & 2nd, with India a distant 3rd and locations in the States as scarce as hen's teeth. So I'd welcome a bedroom in Colorado. If you're in the bathroom, keep it to yourself...and please don't flush til after we hang up.
I rather email or text than to have to decipher what any foreign person says on the phone. Nerve racking Notice I did not list a specific nationality- discrimination ya know.
Moving to Henderson, Nevada the first week of September. She let the Agency know this morning that we were moving and ask how the computer equipment will be moved. Don't think the company she works for will want the stuff to go with a Moving Company, but it's up to them. We know we can't take it with us. As far as Henderson being the right area, will have a 1-Year Lease to find that out. If the heat is just too much for us, will sell the boat and drive up to both Reno and Carson City to check both out. One thing for sure, hooking up our boat, launching it, retrieving it and unhooking at Storage, isn't as easy as it use to be. And, we are only getting older! So, for the first year, won't do very much to the new apartment, like putting up all of our pictures.
I've worked for multinationals. Understanding each other is much easier fact-to-face, and darned near impossible over the phone. When I got my first truck I installed a CB radio. I quickly got rid of it because I could not understand a darned thing that anyone said...and they were speaking English! It's like trying to understand a song's lyrics: "There's the bathroom on the right."
Not that far away. Frank was somewhere near Laughlin and Bullhead City. He always said that they were on the Arizona side, but crossed over the river to to to the buffet dinners on the Nevada side.
The weather for @Cody Fousnaugh traveling to Henderson this weekend is not looking good at this point. they have had all kinds of flooding in the Las Vegas area, and Henderson is also having flooding right now. There are pictures online that are showing the flooding in that whole area. Hopefully, by the time Cody and Mrs.Cody arrive there, most of the flooding will be over so they can start moving into their new apartment. Prayers for safe travels as you drive to Nevada, Cody !
I was just reading about the flooding there thinking of them I really feel for him that it's got to be terrible mess. Hope he checks in as soon as possible to let us know they are okay and have moved
Well, here's an update: Don't know if I mentioned this before, but: When we left the TV Cable Company, an older lady was walking in wearing a t-shirt with Lucifer (fallen Angel/Satan) on it. Seen a guy at the corner of an intersection ringing a bell and wearing a Satan face mask. While eating at a small Mexican Restuarant close to where we live, a couple walked in with three small kids. Notice the guy was wearing a t-shirt that said Satan's Sinners on the back. Both parents arms/knuckles and neck full of tattoos. Don't know what to think of this and the area that we moved to, but it does seem a little scary. Still unpacking some boxes, but like already stated, we won't unpack everything. The small casinos, around us, are very smoky (cigarettes). IOW, walk in/walk out instantly! Anyway, anyone could tell that we are NOT nearly as happy here as we thought we'd be, but, somehow/someway have to cope for a year.
I had a friend who worked in the employee-insurance field for companies. He said many insurers tell their employers not to hire older people because of the risk of falls, injuries, illnesses, etc.
That's too bad. There's really no way to now what a place (or neighborhood) is like until you actually live your life there.
