Some might say it takes one to know one but I would never do that. :D

It’s getting kind of salty in here today.

Did you two travel together? Come back and see us anytime. :)

They don't enforce existing law so they won't comply with any deal.

Trying to figure out when you became so hostile to me, @Beth Gallagher. I actually remember us being friendly, if not necessarily in agreement, friendly. We had no problems when you had cancer, I was supportive, you were gracious. Then, something happened.

I was actually NOT referring to you, at least not specifically. There is still much I like about you. You are fiesty. You are interesting. Oh well, another one bites the dust.

Could you wait a day or two please for my answer? I have plenty to do for the next few days. Thank you for asking.

    I agree with Lulu Moppet.

The rules say don't be offensive, but what could be more offensive to Democrats than statements like, "Anyone who doesn't vote for Trump is insane." or, the self-satisfied, "Good to have the left's opinions around here because ours look so damn good next to theirs," or the most frustrating thing of all. "The stupid Libs think..." followed by a lot of fictitious stuff that no liberal I ever knew said, but evidently the writer thinks he can read minds and make things up when he doesn't have anything concrete to quote.

I came here from another senior forum after being bullied off because I expressed a bit of sympathy for Dereck Chauvin after he was stabbed 15 times. A little group of prolific posters decided that made me a racist and they refused to let up. So when I first came here I was pleased to see more conservatives and more Christians.

I'm a Centrist, that means both sides think I'm wrong at least half the time. I believe in voting for each issue as I think best and not according to a party line. My last local election had two big issues and I voted with the conservatives on one issue and the liberals on the other. When it comes to presidential and gubernatorial elections I vote for whoever I think seems like the best person. I've seen too many campaign promises fall away because congress won't let them pass, so, while I consider the promises, they aren't first in my mind. I just hope for a decent person with good values. Sometimes that's a Democrat and sometimes a Republican.

Although I really like a lot of the regulars here and enjoy the games and the humor, I've decided to move along, because clearly, the rule about attacking the politicians and not the people who vote for them, doesn't really apply. I find all the anti-liberal hate depressing.

I was waiting for your answer, and was sorry to see you are putting it off. I like to hear the other sides opinions on the issues, not just "I don't like this or I hate this" I think the "whys" are encouraged here, but not lies about things we've seen and heard with our own eyes. If I'm too busy to answer a reasonable question, I'm probably too busy to spout off without giving a reason.

Yes, already established laws are being disregarded which gives license to anyone that wants to, to break any law if no one is being held responsible, especially an elected official.

    Good morning to all-
Andrea- while I will admit much of the responses that appear here are coming from the right hand side of political opinion, I find it helpful to read what others say, even if it seems rather asinine to me. I don't want to respond to a site where everyone agrees with me-even though I am almost never wrong, at least in my opinion of things.( For you ultra-serious readers, that was a little joke.)

It helps, I find, to read what other folks are thinking and saying, again, even if their opinions seem wrongminded. At least, it's better to get a certain level of information here rather than trying to get information from such cesspools as FOXNews and such ultra conservative sources.

So, go if you wish, but please know that you are not the only person who reads this site who has a more balanced view of the political world.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

Sometimes I take some time off from a forum if it begins to irritate me. That might be a day, a week or forever but I try not to announce that I’m leaving because it’s easier just to show up again if I change my mind. :)

Honestly, I don’t think there is a forum where there is never any conflict. Even forbidding discussion of politics doesn’t help. It just allows some opinions, but not others. And it leads to bullying by moderators or cliques against those they disagree with. I’ve not seen anything even close to what you describe about that Chauvin thread here, Andrea.

It’s an election year. Our country is in deep trouble and liberals are in charge. Perhaps that accounts for strong opinions.

I agree with you but as things are unfolding I fear for my children and I am getting emotional. We all want to live a peaceful life and I see it as ending.
Do you wonder where all the insane amounts of money is coming from for other nations, support of illegals...?
Not for our vets who have to beg through organizations like Wounded Warriors etc or our own homeless.
It is being made out of thin air and when we actually realize it, they will take what we have and give us other fake money. Or just take what we have in taxes. And it is pretty much too late to stop it.
Illegals were attacking cops in NY. Of course their frustration is being bottled up now that they realize the American dream is not actually free but they still want the perks they were promised. They were used as pawns by the cartels and the UN and the Democrats want to eventually get their votes by giving them stuff. This worked after the Civil War with the freed slaves.

Sure I would like us to have input without insults. I don't expect either side to switch but I don't understand exactly how things have come to this.

It's because our Republic has been raped and our local power has been stolen and aggregated in DC. Now the politicians that are sent to Washington by other states have power over the rest of us that they were never meant to have. Federal agencies have been bloated and given legislative authority so we have no way to putting an end to the encroachment. There is little that the Fed does that they have the authority to do, yet because corrupt judges sit behind the bench, there is no peaceful way to fix it.

I have absolutely no problem seeing everything you just said @John Brunner and wonder while some don't seem to see it, and where the root cause is

We have been attacked from inside.

Our institutions have been expanded and invaded.
-The judiciary issues light sentences so some scream for legislation to fix it.
-The legislature can never do what everyone tells them to, so some turn to the courts.
--So now no one is doing their own job, but they're doing everyone else's.

Everything has become corrupted over time. The White House is now legislation by Executive Order and Congress is providing oversight...that is completely backwards.

This is all by design, and it's been done to us over the course of generations.

@Andrea Lindsey said..... The rules say don't be offensive, but what could be more offensive to Democrats than statements like, "Anyone who doesn't vote for Trump is insane." or, the self-satisfied, "Good to have the left's opinions around here because ours look so damn good next to theirs," or the most frustrating thing of all. I think we should back off from unkind words about other peoples' political leanings. Even if it's meant in a joking way.

    Here's why.

I was invited to join a forum. I decided to join and took a look at it. I was appalled at the hatred spewed toward Republicans. Not just Trump but anybody who was Republican. Needless to say, I didn't join there. They lost a person who would have been a good addition to their forum. I look in there sometimes and there are only 8 or 9 people posting there. They post mainly on the games.

Anybody who is considering joining here and reading anti-Democrat stuff would likely make the same decision. A forum without differing opinions soon becomes an echo chamber. And boring.
