They have issued a tornado warning for the area around San Diego, California ! I think that @Joy Martin is not there, but if you are in that area, Joy, please take care and go somewhere safe, just in case, and let us know if you are okay . You are closer to LA, Right ?
I'm in Santa Monica, about 20 miles straight West of downtown LA, and I'm sea level and no hills or mountains near for any flooding...I'm been OK, thanks for asking....
One word description, "WET"!! However, local mountain ski resort, Lee Canyon, got so much snow, there was an avalanche. Nobody hurt though. Some locals, who wanted to play in the snow, were turned away from going any further to the ski resort, by the Nevada State Police. They weren't happy driving as far as they got and not being able to go any further. But, they thought more about fun than safety.
Thunder and lighting just now. It hit 50 degrees today! The barn floor is melting. Wet and annoying. Can't wait to get it cleaned out this spring but don't want to mess with the big doors. And it will be below freezing shortly. I hate mud season.
Apparently there were flurries coming down last night between 21:30 and 22:00. Well, I've missed them while doing dishes . Unless there's huge accumulation of snow, I don't consider it a snowfall ehehe. This morning, temp indoor on thermometer clock was 18°C... a rarity since about November last year. So I guess the outdoor temperature went up and my heating system didn't need to start. Finally, warming up. Therefore, it's cloudy but dry and not as cold as yesterday but... It's early. Things might change in the afternoon and evening. I'm not expecting precipitations, after checking my weather app.
Slightly off topic. for a while I have been looking for the perfect sleeping bag for my needs. There was an ad in my weather search site for today for 'the best survival gear'. I clicked on a picture of their light weight bag when looking for a -0 F bag. It said it was very light weight and good for temperatures above 50 degrees. ????? Who needs a sleeping bag when it is above 50 degrees?
My sons always maintained that two lighter bags were better than one now matter how good it is and they often slept out in below -30 F. temperatures. It is nice to have a bedroll or light bag at 50 F. just to make life more comfortable. Isn't your bedroom warmer than 50 F.?
The weather has broken and temps are supposed to be around freezing over the weekend with a possibility of snow or even rain tomorrow. We'll see. It is nice to get a break in the temperatures, but like @Mary Stetler says, mud season is pretty miserable, but we don't often get there before late April.
