I woke up to a bunch of snow this morning, although I don't mind so much in late March since I know that it won't last. It was thick and heavy, however.
All of our snow has melted, but we're supposed to get a bunch of it tomorrow, and it will stay below freezing until Sunday when whatever we get will probably melt. We're going to have snow off and on next week, but it'll be mixed with rain so I don't expect much accumulation after tomorrow.
We'll probably do a little dance with snow off and on here too. This morning there was maybe half an inch, though it melted on the pavement as it fell. By afternoon it as gone, we had plenty of sun. Low temps overnight for a few days into the teens.
Yuck ! I have seen enough of winter, and those posts about spring snow are another good reason I am glad I live in Alabama now. Please keep your snow under control and up there in the far north where it belongs, Ken and Jacob. We have nice daffodils and tulips blooming here, and the blackberries and raspberries should be start getting blossoms before too much longer.
Even though we will, most likely, be moving back into 4-seasons (snow), I totally understand how you feel about keeping snow in the north.
Photo-editing, @John Brunner . Bobby actually sent me the picture when he was outside during the day, but I wanted to highlight the tulip, so I added a vignette to make the tulip stand out from the background. (I love my quick and easy photo-editing app)
It's not a large accumulation yet, but it's heavy, wet snow, such that half of each shovelful stuck to the shovel when I tried to throw it. It's still going and is supposed to turn into a blizzard by 2 pm. Although it's still snowing, I shoveled because we're expecting a package from UPS today. Unlike the government workers with the USPS, the UPS delivery guys will walk through the snow to deliver a package, but I don't like to take advantage of that. It's cold, and this wet snow will probably freeze solid by the time it stops snowing, so at least I got some of it out of the way. Before last night, all of our snow had melted.
And, believe it or not, we prefer the snow to 110 degree heat that will hit here. Don't have to buy a single bit of winter clothing. Kept all we have. Guess "keeping it all" told us that we'd wind up back in Old Man Winter again.
You could try spraying your shovel with Pam or a silicone spray. The old method was to heat the shovel with a torch (metal shovel) and rub it with paraffin. Wet stuff only really moves well with a plow.
The daffodils are up here but not blooming yet although I thought I saw one little crocus out the window. And tonite we will have snow
Okay, the blizzard was an hour late, but I guess it's here. Maybe Mother Nature forgot to adjust her clock for daylight saving time. As I understand it, a blizzard is snow plus wind, but I'm not sure that the amount of snow coming down right now qualifies, although it has gotten windy, and visibility might be lowered. It was snowing a lot harder a few hours ago but wasn't so windy then. If the earlier snow wasn't so wet, more snow might be blowing around.
