No mud here but we do have wind. Lots of wind with downed trees and power outages but no damage at my house so far. People to the east are getting tornadoes again tonight and huge hail in some places. Say a little prayer for them if you can.
Yesterday was cool and rainy, but today is glorious. Wife says a lot of whining going on by people who started gardens outside as it got to 26 F. last night and the people who already planted will be replanting. As @John Brunner said in the garden thread, the greenhouses love it when people try to jump the season. We like it too, but we won't start selling for a week or two yet. Our big sale will be on the last weekend of May.
Tonite is another spring storm with thunder a lightning. I always liked those. Kind of romantic. Until your husband, who has a new foot brace on, comes in and asks if the downspouts are on. He used to say more romantic things. It's ok. The storm was big and blustery but has moved on after 5 minutes.
Planning for, but hoping we won’t have the severe weather they are talking about coming in a form of another Derecho. We are to have several rounds of strong storms starting around noon till 9pm tonight. It’s all the weather peeps have been talking about. It’s odd too; we had a horrific derecho on the same day, May 8th, 2009. I remember it well! I rather not go through that again. The winds are starting to pick up.
We have just went through a 5 year drought and now it has gone the other way with flooding This river you could walk across one month ago with out getting your feet wet
And it is amazing that that kind of weather happened even before global warming was a thing. Stay safe!
Hi @Yvonne Smith and @Bobby Cole here's a link just in case, they are having a regional outbreak of tornados, unusual, and Huntsville is included, just in case, here's the link:
If anyone sees this I'm not going to make another thread but there's a tornado going through Huntsville right now so if anyone wants to start praying for Yvonne and Bobby we best do that I don't know how close they are into Huntsville but they're showing live footage on Ryan Halls video like the one above
There has been a confirmed tornado that went through Huntsville Alabama at 8:25PM, with multiple warnings out for Alabama and for Tennessee and Georgia. I see nothing about injuries or fatalities in Alabama. Yvonne Smith and Bobby Cole live in Huntsville, but Yvonne posted earlier that the storms would be north of where they live. Let's hope she was right.
I guess it’s still early for reports. Storm chasers last night reported 2 tornadoes in the vicinity of Huntsville.
Last night I read that a tornado hit Huntsville, and another one was on its heels. I've not read anything this morning about it. I saw 3 casualties in other states being reported (North Carolina and Tennessee), but nothing of any injuries in Alabama.
We are fine here, @Denise Evans , and thank you for the prayers ! God was definitely looking after people here in our area, we just got rain and Thunder. There were a couple of tornadoes that touched down, but no injuries reported in Madison County , and only minor issues other places in Alabama, from what i am reading. There were some trees down and roof damages near downtown Huntsville, but no injuries that I have seen so far on the local news.
