Morning everyone ..It's a sunny Friday morning ..very strange weather here considering we are in Autumn ..temptures are up to 10c above average
Good Morning, Y'all. I got caught in the storms yesterday. The rains were torrential, but fortunately I wasn't actually on the road at that point, although I did have to maneuver my way home afterwards. Thankfully, it was midday, and there are less people on the roads at that point. @Yvonne Smith I'm glad to hear that @Ina I. Wonder is doing o.k., although is without power. She's a trouper, and will carry on, and even thrive. I hope others in the area are also safe. You've posed the same question I ask constantly. It could be that they lack the resources to move the animals every time it floods, I'm not sure. I know that's my issue, so these days I'd tend to stay, versus in the past when money was less of an issue and I'd have left ahead of the storms. The same thing happened here with Hurricane Ike, just as with Katrina in Louisiana. I didn't hear many stories of trapped and abandoned pets in Mississippi, but heard several such cases out of Louisiana, for some reason. The most heart wrenching was an animal here tied up to a tree in a yard to drown when the owners left. I am awake, but will go back to bed eventually. I fell asleep much earlier than usual, so at least I've had some sleep, unlike most of the nights lately. I think today we're going to have a reprieve, and might see the sun . Have a great Friday, everyone!
Good morning to all, and Happy Friday! For a change of pace & on the bright side, I can report that after 9 rain-free, warm and sunny days, we received light rain showers yesterday and some are expected this morning. The humidity on Wednesday, was 11%! The forecaster had never seen single digit humidity in his 30 years, so this was quite an event. Wishing you all a sunny day!
Mornin'. We're starting out warm and sunny here in beautiful downtown button city. It's 50 degrees at 7am. Clouds and rain chances this afternoon. Made it to another Friday. I once worked in a button factory. They paid us every Friday. Friday was the only day everyone showed up for work. Have a great weekend y'all. If you wake up Sunday morning in jail, you know you must have had fun.
HALP!!! Tragedy!!! Got up this morning and turned on the coffee. Went in later to get a cup and aarrrggg, the coffee maker wasn't working. I had a cup of instant, yuk. After I got dressed I went to the garage and found the old one. I'm okay now! I spent some time weedeating yesterday while my wife was mowing, Put out fish food this morning and a few came up to eat. I hope the water has gone down in the Houston area but from other posts it looks like more is coming. We are supposed to be dry and warm until Tuesday.
Bad start to the day, Shel! Maybe you should plant some Kentucky Coffee trees....or stop by the Hi-Goodbye!
Good Morning Friends! The sun is shining and it's looking like a great and relaxing weekend here at the Hunt's. Hope it's that way at everyone else's too this weekend. No cooking today as our neighbor who we often share meals with gifted us with two tickets for 4 pounds of boiled crawfish with potatoes and corn on the cob. It's about the end of crawfish season so I'm hoping those boiled critters will still be nice and fat for us. But if they aren't...it is the thought that counts and this was a very thoughtful gift from our neighbor. My daughter who is expecting our grandson come September just called me after finishing up her checkup with her OB. All is well with both Mom and grandson at around the middle of her second trimester. Our grandson is letting her know he's there all the time now and his sister (who will be two in August) loves kissing Mom's stomach...and for some reason "petting" it too. We have been trying to teach her how to pet the dogs in our lives lately so she can get used to them. I think she thinks Mom has a pet in her belly too although she will tell you her brother is in there! Loving life today. May all of you feel the love today too. Happy Weekend Friends.
Hi Everybody, My power came back this morning. YEA!!! The lights are flickering, and the a/c's are dragging a bit once in a while. So I can tell it's cross my fingers time. Our roads look like there are trash piles at 2/3's of the driveways. If my home wasn't up off the ground two feet, there would be water in it right now. It came close. The people that built this log house in 1870 knew the high point thank goodness. Now it's time to start cleaning up.
Always store any leftover real coffee in a thermos labeled "For Emergency Only" @Sheldon Scott. Even real leftover coffee tastes better than real instant!
Welcome back @Ina I. Wonder, I've been concerned about you and @Bonnie Thomas. I still haven't seen her check in, and from what I've heard, it seems her area is one of the worst hit, unfortunately. I do hope they're o.k. @Sheldon Scott I always have at least one french press to back up any electric coffee maker I use. I also have one of the Melitta filter drip things that sits on top of a cup. It just doesn't do to be out of either coffee or a maker. Hope you get another soon. @Babs Hunt How cute about petting her belly. Children can be such a joy to be around, helping us to see things through new eyes. The moon is huge and gorgeous. If you're awake, go take a look. Good Morning, Y'all. It's a brand new day, 12:06 a.m. here. I fell asleep very early again, so am up after a few hours of sleep, as has been the norm lately. I'll probably watch an hour or two of television and then go back to sleep. Hope everyone has a happy weekend!
