Assuming that humans actually have some type of a "soul", what do you suppose one might look like? Would mine look like me, except maybe translucent? Or would it be something else entirely? And the gender of souls, would a male soul have male characteristics or do you suppose that souls are gender neutral or fluid? Do souls wear clothes, do you think? And if they do, where would these clothes come from? Thanks for your thoughtful answers to my questions.

Good question. I don't have a thoughtful answer at the moment.

I have read this, Make up your own mind. Science has claimed the Soul has weight. Testing they have done shows that when a person dies they drop so much of a pound. Do not remember exact weight. Personally I do not believe a Soul has a color nor gender other than the body it leaves. A Soul is a spirit and transparent. My opinion only.

    Fantastic question @Jack Roberts
The way I picture it ---
A translucent and shimmering sparkly opalescent archetypal humanoid form but genderless figure. Animals also have souls, and their forms are likewise translucent and opalescent in the shape of their archetypal animal form. In other words, you can distinguish horses from dolphins, etc.

There is a color "tint" to the opalescence whereby some souls may be slightly red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, purple, white, etc. The colors might correspond to accumulated lessons engaged in during incarnations, or maybe just the last incarnation. It's not a ranking or hierarchical code or status per se, just a remnant or artifact of lesson types.

I see souls as devoid of personal external characteristics except maybe height. But height doesn't necessarily correspond to the last inhabited body's height or living height when released from the body. I don't have a reason why heights may be different, it's just the way I imagine it. I like to think souls expand or contract in size to fit the growth cycle of the physical body, but return to their natural energy body size in each "in between" life.

Souls in my vision are unclothed as there is no for modesty, no shame, and no ego to boost via pride of appearance, since souls are pure energy. They are recognizable by some quality of energy frequency, some vibration that emanates from the "heart" area. Souls resonate and harmonize with other souls they have interacted with during incarnated life.

What I've read there are no descriptions in the Bible for what a soul looks like, however there are some videos on YouTube of Souls leaving the body after a person just died. These videos in my opinion are in poor taste and horrible to watch as the subject is in his final breath. Out of curiosity I must admit I did watch 2. In one video a small orb leaves the body immediately after the final breath. In the other video the soul resembled a ghostly apparition.
Personally I believe these are CGI and the souls are what the video maker thinks they should look like. I know a few people who witnessed the death of a relative and did not notice a soul leaving the body. A couple who were there for the final moments did mention that the dying person talked to dead relatives while in a comatose state.
Is the soul a form of energy?
Based on the laws of physics energy can neither be created nor destroyed, however energy can change forms.
There are a few different forms of energy the body uses for its existence, after death they change to other forms during the decomposition process.
If the soul is a form of energy and doesn't change form, it theoretically could last for eternity.
Hedi in the prior post is correct.
Scientists had a dying person on a precise scale to measure the weight difference if any at the time of death. The weight did decrease with the person's last breath, as I recalled it was less than an ounce.

I have 'felt' souls rather than seen them for the most part. I assume it is energy that causes the feeling; like static electricity in the air?
I have seen and felt my little dog Emma after she had passed. She looked as she did in life. And others.

Interesting question I've not heard before either, but my Christian perspective will be different than some others here.

The Bible teaches that we have a body, soul, and spirit. It gives us other clues how these exist and behave.

We know from science that our physical body is materialistic and thus subject to the universal laws of physics.
Our soul and spirit are different though, being non-materialistic and thus not subject to the universal laws of physics. That means they have no atomic particles, no energy waves, or material matter of any kind to see, feel, weigh, or measure. Consequently, a spirit is not energy any more than the Holy Spirit is a force as JW's and many others believe.

The Bible describes both good and bad spirits dwelling within various human and animal bodies, as well as those filling the world invisibly around us. I'd conclude that spirits are supernatural beings capable of existing with or without a natural body.

The Bible teaches that we all have an eternal soul and spirit. And for those of us that have put our faith and trust in Christ, we look forward to getting our new supernatural spirit bodies upon the rapture. We'll maintain our physical identities in a superior manner, enjoy eating, working, and performing physical acts, while also enjoying new capabilities and traits beyond the universal laws of science as we know them. It's hard for us to imagine such a thing, but we have evidence to believe it's true and reasons to be hopeful for it.

I think at this point in our evolution we do not have the words to describe what a soul looks like. IMO when we die we just 'know' to whom another soul/consciousness belongs. I believe we will see/meet all the people we have ever known. It will be like a great reunion. LOL at least I hope this is all true! :)

Um , I hare to damper on things @Joan Kuper , I am thinking very few of anyone we know, we will be at either place we go,Well maybe more on the lower deck ;)
@Joseph Carl - at time of death people have been weighed as it happens and lose - a small amount of weight to what is considered the soul.

If we entertain angels unaware, then we have to keep our human type forms.

I think weight is irrelevant...what does consciousness weigh? I still am surprised so many do not believe there is not life after life.
