I always watch the Olympics, both summer and winter. I enjoy seeing the athletes get their shot on the world stage to exhibit the results of years of hard work and sacrifice. I hate to start the subject off o a negative tone, but the only reason I started this thread was to ask WTF the opening ceremonies were supposed to be about? Drag Queens Play Out The Last Supper Words escape me.
Disgusting but unfortunately most people seem to be fine making fun of God and Jesus these days. Here's more about the Olympics. It's all news to me too as I hadn't paid any attention to the Olympics at all this time. I can't click "Like" on your post, John, but I read it. The 2024 Olympic Games Are Making Queer History https://sports.yahoo.com/2024-olympic-games-making-queer-145300661.html How the Olympics became the queerest sporting event in the world https://www.outsports.com/2024/7/18/24097567/olympics-lgbtq-history/ 5 ways the Olympics is already super gay on day one https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/5-ways-olympics-already-super-201029676.html
Opening ceremonies were the worst I've ever seen. The woke agenda has apparently taken over France as well. If Germany ever invades France again, I say let them have it.
Q: Why is the Champs-Élysées tree-lined? A: So German soldiers can march in the shade. But in all fairness, the Olympic Committee (and perhaps others) have done this. I doubt that the hosting country creates the opening ceremony.
They make fun because Christians allow it. Do you think they would dare do anything similar to Mohammed? Not a chance. The stadium and the city around it would be burned to the ground.
Looks like one conservative writer is upset enough to call for a boycott. Afraid I can't participate because I wasn't watching it anyway. It's Time to Boycott the Olympics https://townhall.com/tipsheet/saraharnold/2024/07/27/its-time-to-boycott-the-olympics-n2642602 There are some good photos and comments over there.
I have been reading on Twitter that some companies are already pulling their advertising support from the Olympics. The advertisers are stuck between having to accept the disgusting woke opening ceremony, or having people boycott their products, so probably more companies will follow suit with the ones who have pulled advertising. Of course, Kamala posted about how wonderful it all was, and how it truly represents the best of America. People are already refusing to watch the whole Olympics because of last night’s satanic opening ceremony, and I read that the Olympic has pulled it from their youtube channel, so they must be getting a LOT of complaints.
Apparently, they had no choice in the matter. One of the participants in the opening ceremony carelessly had actual private parts on display, which violates rules on what can be shown ; so they were forced to take down the video. This might be why they had to try and suppress the photos that have been posted on social media also.
You can be intolerant without being violent. Simply don't attend, don't watch, and don't support the IOC or any companies who support them. I never watch the Olympics anyway.
We didn't watch the opening ceremonies but have had the games on all day. My husband loves the summer olympics, particularly diving and track and field events (he ran track back in the day). We like to support the American athletes who worked so hard to get there. If there's any of that "turning the back on the national anthem" or any of that bullshit this year, we will turn it off. Athletes making any type of political statement or act should be immediately disqualified and sent home.
People still watch the stuff. It is widely tolerated in the West. Everything is okay. I'll continue to watch, read, buy because I want to. It will continue to happen and get worse because it IS tolerated. There can be genitalia on display and that is okay. I won't watch THAT part, but I will continue to watch the rest. Bud Light is one of the ones that suffered for the nonsense. I think they dropped from the #1 beer in America to #5 I think because they offended a group who didn't continue to buy.
