At 6:23 p.m. EST intermittent rain. I'm glad because I'm seeing new growth where I had planted grass seed in the front yard early fall.
Just having the greenhouse unheated would allow you to grow many things year-round. Lettuce, onions, carrots, radishes, cabbage, etc. would probably grow through the winter, or at least stay alive.
We had another warm day but it will be 20 degrees cooler tomorrow, then down into the 40's tomorrow night. Finally a bit of fall comes to town.
I remember living in south Georgia and being visited by an aunt form Pennsylvania. It was late October and she was headed for Florida. It was 80+ F. and she claimed it was too hot to cook. Wife told her if that was too hot to cook, she wouldn't cook for most of the year.
Low will be 33 but it is dropping fast already, I'm getting out the long johns, I'm cold already, that's what living in a civilized society will do to us.
It's cold outside 18 degrees right now. Every time my 'Do a little thing.' reminder comes on I think about taking down my fall decor outside and begin to put up winter decor, burr, burr.
Leftover turkey is put away, cooked the bones for broth, and today I added some rice and veggies to the turkey and broth, so we will have a nice healthy (brothy) soup for dinner today. It is in the slow cooker, so should be ready by noon or so. Bobby has lots of turkey to make his turkey sandwiches out of in the fridge, so we are good with that part, too. Walmart was all out of their whole cranberry sauce, and I ordered the Ocean Spray cranberry sauce instead, but I do not like it as well as the walmart brand. The Ocean Spray seems to be a lot sweeter, and I do not like it that sweet. I might get some fresh cranberries and make some sauce. Still enjoying my eggnog coffee , and almost done with that awful Maxwell House, so I can start the Hills Brothers coffee next.
Living in N. Florida, temp below 40f is like a weather emergency.A huge red floag on NOAH site. Tonight Low: 31 °F Mostly Clear then Frost Sunday High: 63 °F Areas Frost then Su
-15 F. but not snowing. Not much turkey left from two turkeys--one roasted and one smoked. Christmas decorating still going into its second day.
It is 28 here right now, so pretty cold for Alabama. My son lives in northeastern Washington State, and it is 27 there right now, which is pretty normal for a state that far north, I am dressed and bundled up and have the little heater by my feet turned on, to keep me warm. It looks like when it warms back up then we get rain, so still not weather to go anywhere in. At least it does not say we get any snow, so that is good.
It was 14 F. when we left to go shopping (Senior Day) and it was 30 F. in Wasilla. When we got back home it was up to 18 F. Possibility of freezing rain today since warmth is moving north form the Gulf of Alaska/Pacific Ocean. Hopefully it will be snow if anything here, as I hate freezing rain!
