In the past, I wrote about Buddy(Wayne). He prefers to be called Buddy. He's the guy who borrows quarters from me for the laundry machines. The guy who washes his clothes almost every day. The guy who has trouble speaking coherently.
Well, yesterday, Tuesday, he came buy to repay me some quarters he borrowed the day before. He also gave me a Christmas gift, a little church that lights up when plugged in. This touched my heart.
Buddy can't work and doesn't have much. He's harmless, but can be annoying. People in my building tend to ignore him. I heard one person tell him not to bother them anymore. Others threaten to tell the manager if he knocks on their door wanting something.
I couldn't watch this any longer without doing something. So, I treat him in a friendly way, and help him wherever I can. Now, he considers me his best friend for life. And, I feel honored to be his friend.
I want no praise or anything. Somewhere I read that everyone can help someone. To do so is reward enough.

Lovely story Ike, a little kindness goes a long way these days, when so many of us seem to be so quick to dismiss people as a nuisance or simply avoid them.

Thank you for warming my heart this morning…a year-round Christmas Spirit story of a gift that keeps on giving.

Ike, I sometimes hear you say that you're ready to go or happy that you made it another day. This is one reason why. You're still here because you still have purpose. Throw in a kind word from me for Buddy.

I think a lot of people, when they're on top of their game, forget that what goes up comes down eventually. Someday those people could be in a situation where they need something, and I'm sure at that time, they wouldn't want to be ignored or put down. No doubt he can be annoying, but it's nice that you've reached out to him and lift him up.

You have a kind heart Ike, and that is worth more than solid gold I think. I am usually nice to people too, but some I have more tolerance for some than others. It sounds like Buddy needed you in his life, and I am glad you guys are friends. That is a nice thing, and all I can say is the world needs more people like you.

You have a lovely connection with Buddy and you have fostered it. Buddy must know that people avoid him and it must have given him great pleasure to have a gift for you because you accept him for who, what ad how he is.
